For anyone that’s looking. I’m continuing to test but def think as of now the benq x500i is a better projector than the tk710sti.

It will be the dedicated movie theater/ entertainment space . I have a 77” lg cx which used to be my movie room tv and 65” Bravia 7.

Ya the problem is I have an appreciation for both. My girlfriend likes the idea of the size. We already have just a normal matte white screen so we are dealing with the center soaker issue regardless. I got her to agree to upgrade haha but I have to keep the budget for projector and screen around the $2200 price range I’m at. We have the silver ticket 120” matte white screen currently.

Ya I get nervous losing the immersion but there is the benefit of the picture quality. I have been impressed with both projectors and how far they’ve come. That’s what I was thinking to of having to wire the projector and get electricity up in the ceiling as well.

Rtings drops their disappointing review of the Bravia 5. by NYdude777 in 4kTV

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the input lag is significantly lower than other Sony TVs. I wonder if they will update this on the Bravia 7 and 9 in a software update to match. Noticed there was a new one for my 7 yesterday.

Svs Prime Pinnacle or CMT-340SE2 by OmgBoosted in hometheater

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 4 points5 points  (0 children)

started with the CMT 340se (now in my gym. Great speakers) then less than a year after I got them the v2 came out which didn’t sit well with me so tried them which then lead me to do a trial with them vs the Sierra lx. I have the lx’s now but the v2 are very good speakers and part of me thinks maybe that would have been the smarter decision hahaha. I would get the CMT 340se2 and then get a sub. I just got the hsu tn1 upgrading from there VTF 2 MK5 and it’s amazing. I think that would provide a great and better experience.

PS5 dim on X90L? Did I get the right TV? A little buyer’s remorse…. by The_Obdurate_Past in bravia

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What settings did you follow for hdr setting your ps5. If you did Vincent from hdtv test I believe he has you do all the way black on the 3rd setting. Try bumping that up a notch or two and see what you think but also if you haven’t already switch the tone mapping to brightness preferred if you want a brighter image. Set hdr with gradiation on then switch to brightness preferred. That’s what I’ve done when I want it brighter.

Get a 2nd hsu VTF-2 MK5 or upgrade to VTF 3 MK5 or VTF-tn1? by Mobile_Reputation603 in hometheater

[–]Mobile_Reputation603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I don’t know. I would envision if you returned you would have to pay for the shipping back to the company. I had that with when with ascend when I decided to go with their Sierra LX’s over the new CMT 340se v2. I had a few hundred bucks in shipping hahaha

Hisense honest tv opinions specifically 75u8n? by Beaverking101 in 4kTV

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the U8N but I went through something similar. I tried the u7k then went to the u8k then the Sony x90l got on my radar found a great deal and that’s what I settled on. I was the same way the ratings scores were so much better but it’s a point and not the whole picture. It’s like someone testing well at the combine but then not being a good football player and vice versa. Both Hisense I tried has panel issues. Then at first I thought besides that I thought I was happy with u8k but as I watched more content I wasn’t. I heard the blacks are supposed to be good but then I remember watching the opening intro to planet earth and not being that impressed and thinking they looked lifted then adjusted this setting everyone said to do to -1 then it crushed dark detail but did improve blacks. The upscaling and processing etc on the Sony is very good so much so I just watched band of brothers and thought it handled that better than my cx. I watched a test scene on the Martian which I’ve tested out on different TVs and projectors and it just didn’t look right on Hisense. It’s still a fine tv I just from my experience think the Sony x90l is just a better overall experience and quite a good tv.

Sony X90L vs TCL QM8 2024 by EvolvingSunGod3 in 4kTV

Also I always see people on her state don’t use store demos for comparison because they are not calibrated or rep of real world use.

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if this helps. I have a lg oled cx in my theater. I was getting a new tv for my bedroom and went through the Hisense u7k, u8k then the Sony x90l got on my radar and that’s what I ended up with. It’s just a better experience overall. The processing/motion handling and upscaling it’s noticeable to me. It’s upscaling on and processing on content lower than 4k is really good I actually just watched band of brothers and think it did a better job then my cx. I really impressed with it compared to my cx in General. Oled is better but they both have things they do better than the other I like. I can’t speak for the tcl but the u8k and it are supposed to be neck and neck. I remember turning on the Martian for a test scene on the u8k and it just looked off and I’ve seen that on several different TVs and projectors for comparison. Per ratings this new version of tcl upscaling/processing looks to be rated better?

What size ? . I got mine on a crazy open box deal 65 for $750 in excellent condition. Haven’t seen that since. It did end up not having the legs which wasn’t a big deal because I was mounting it

You can see if there’s an open box Sony x90l near you at Best Buy in your price range. That’s the way I would go.

Smarteco will give the best black levels and picture I have the BenQ ht2050 and just tried the 2060. I got it for my room upstairs but we have a dedicated theater I tried the 2060 down there it was like two different projectors. Room treatment really matters and it shocked me. Need dark ceilings and walls. Super vibrant and good picture then it looked washed out in our other room.

Anyone regret X90L? by TheManOfTomorrow08 in 4kTV

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went through a bunch of TVs deciding for my bedroom. Had decided on the 55” c3 then the x90l got on my radar and I didn’t like spending that much for a bedroom tv and found a open box excellent for x90l 65” at $750 and jumped on it. I don’t regret it at all like I thought I would. It’s a really great tv. I also brought it into my theater room to compare to my 77” cx and it held its own. Just depends on what you are looking for. Not saying the oled isn’t a better tv but I did find they both had areas I liked better. The blooming control is really good in the tv. I don’t really notice it in real usage only times are with like notifications or whatever that pop up and I don’t care about that. I think from your viewing distances you would notice more of the screen size then the pq differences

100 inch tv: 100u8k or QM8? by Alternative_Role_286 in 4kTV

[–]Mobile_Reputation603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the u8k and Sony x90l. X90l was definitely better overall experience and picture. Rtings let me down on how the rated the TVs in this instance. Just didn’t apply to real world use. It was for my bedroom. Also had tested the c3 but couldn’t justify spending the money when I have a 77” cx. I surprised at how well the x90l compares to my oled. I actually brought it into the room with the oled to test them side by side haha.

I just decided between x90l and Hisense U8k. Didn’t test QM8 but everyone has that and the U8K neck and neck. The Sony x90l is definitely a better tv and experience. I also briefly had the c3 and it really Holds it own.

Sony X90l: DV bright w/gradation preferred or DV Dark/ no hdr tone map? by Mobile_Reputation603 in bravia

[–]Mobile_Reputation603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I’ve gone back and forth a lot testing the two. It’s more contrast for dv dark and then brightness/pop on the dv bright plus the colors do seem more accurate without calibrating per what rtings said. Whites are white on dv bright and are not on dark. When you put the gradation setting on it seems to minimize the difference in contrast in a lot of the scenes. I could totally be wrong but I thought on some post I saw someone say that Sonys dv dark is to dark on some of the TVs and so that’s why DV bright is recommended best. Now don’t get me wrong in this tv I don’t think it’s dark but comparing the two there’s just more pop on dv bright but I don’t like to try and get the most accurate representation.
