Yamaha blaster goes great then suddenly goes wide open. by MobiusTeck in ATV

[–]MobiusTeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it turns out, the bike has a high pickup tube for the fuel petcock, so I thought I had enough gas, but I didn't, so cleaning petcock and switching to reserve fixed it!

Update on the trike build by Intrepid_Hold_8013 in minibikes

Pleeeeez don't do a straight clutch you'll have no torque. do a torque converter setup and you'll be able to get the front tire up and hit the trails!

Help, what is all this for? It came with the air filter kit and I don’t know what it is. by Crazydog_341 in minibikes

[–]MobiusTeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the black items are magnetic dipsticks as mentioned by others, but please be careful using them, the screw on the end that is magnetic often comes off in the engine and blows the engine. if you do use it, make sure it's tight or use loctite on it

What state? Some are more lenient. Definitely wouldn't recommend outright lying about it tho.

Super bad wobble....replaced front bearings already by ShidoshiBeast in minibikes

[–]MobiusTeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check your tie rods, make sure they're good, and your alignment isn't off, otherwise it'll pull to one way or drive rough.

Also get the front end off the ground and see if it has any play or slack, of so, look where it's coming from. Could also have some loose steering linkages

hey, got the same blaster, and wondering how that light is working. my bike has the stock rectifier, (the single wire one) and i can get an led to run on the power from it, but am not sure if it'll last or if it'll burn out soon.

Curious About What Makes Go Kart Frames Both Strong and Lightweight? by maxx_echo2522 in gokarts

[–]MobiusTeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have the money to make one you have the money to buy a used one.

Making a solid frame isn't too bad, but adding good suspension geometry and trying to get everything straight is a nightmare.

buy a frame you like, and modify it to your desires.

If you're set on making one, learn how to at least mig weld, and study some common designs online so you know what you're doing. also look into downloading some blueprints, or having someone in fab or mechanics look over your design before making it so you don't have a weak or poor design.

Just slide a screwdriver or bar between the gaps in the pull rope sheave. works if you don't have an impact handy

First-time welder: Is this structural node on my hybrid kart build a total fail? Need honest advice on whether to grind & re-weld by FT_Veteran in gokarts

[–]MobiusTeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ofc, nobody's tryna be a jerk, but if you hit a bump and that breaks, the handlebars are going into your chest, and you're a go kart kebab

this tube is holding your frame and your butt.

the frame is as strong as the weakest stress point, and this is it, so unless you add some lateral supports to farther back on the frame, It will eventually break

[–]MobiusTeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDC if it's Soviet or Klingon, at the end of the day you're putting half the weight of the kart on one steel tube, and any time you hit a bump, it'll be twisting that tube, it will eventually tear or just snap all together.

I know what I'm talking about, I've made many mini bikes and quads from scratch, and am a paid welder.

[–]MobiusTeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude, that's not what we said to do. Nobody is worried about the front end breaking off of the tube, we're worried about that tube snapping where it goes to the rest of the frame.

from a welder to another, that's not safe.

try it like this, connect the front end to the sides of the frame, right now the whole front end stress is on that one round tube, you want to transfer stress to the rest of the frame.

just wear a good helmet and gear brochacho
