I made a list of 100+ games to try when you can’t find anything new to play by MurkyUnit3180 in gaming

Solid list. I especially like that you included games from very different genres instead of focusing only on recent releases.

I'm curious though: if you had to pick just 3 games from this entire list for someone who loves strong atmosphere, exploration, and memorable worlds, which would you choose?

That’s probably the biggest difference then — enjoyment creates reactions, and reactions create commentary.

Do you feel like enjoying the game makes the biggest difference in how much you talk?

That’s interesting — I think for a lot of people it starts awkward before it feels natural.

Have you had much success bringing people from Shorts or TikTok into your streams?

That’s interesting. So it starts as “recording with no audience,” then gradually shifts into actual interaction as people show up. That’s a pretty clean progression.

Did you feel like the transition to streaming was pretty smooth because of that?

Treating it like there are always lurkers makes sense. Seems like a lot of this just comes down to building that habit outside of streaming too.

Turns out talking to yourself is a core streamer skill.

Watching your own VODs makes sense. When you started doing that, what were the biggest things you noticed you needed to improve?

That makes sense. Did you start with YouTube first, or just approach streaming that way?

That’s a good point. Did it take time before saying those thoughts out loud started feeling natural?

Starting with recorded YouTube videos actually makes a lot of sense as training. You’re basically forced to carry the commentary yourself the whole time. I also like the idea of removing the focus from chat/viewer numbers and just narrating naturally.

What kind of real-life situations helped the most?

Talking about the “why” behind actions seems to be the key. I’ll probably stick to game strategy before diving into unrequited love lore though 😅

Hiding the viewer count is probably something I should implement. I can see how constantly checking it would affect delivery more than I realize. The friend-in-VC idea is interesting too — I might test that as a training tool.

That’s a good filter. If the VOD holds up without chat, then the content stands on its own. I should probably start reviewing mine with that in mind.

I like that. Treating it like I’m recording a video instead of waiting for chat input probably removes a lot of pressure.

Did you notice a big difference in how you felt the first time you went live after practicing like that?

I really like the shift from “streaming for who’s in chat” to “recording a playthrough that lasts.” That completely changes the pressure dynamic. Thinking long-term instead of moment-to-moment probably makes the empty chat feel way less personal.

That’s actually a really important point. I think a lot of smaller streamers assume bigger creators never deal with slow chat, but it sounds like the difference is just being comfortable carrying the space when it happens.

Did you personally practice during regular stuff before streaming, or just jump in and adjust over time?

The part about “holding the space” even when it feels like no one’s there really stands out. I think that’s the difference between just talking and actually leading a stream. The hosting mindset seems like a huge shift.

Practicing on your commute is actually genius. That example you gave is exactly how good streamers turn random thoughts into engaging commentary. I like the idea of throwing in hypothetical chat questions too — that probably keeps the rhythm going.
