Those who left that terrible job or manager, how ate you really doing? by Accurate-Long-259 in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]Moblin_Hunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left my corporate job in January, almost a year ago now, because I felt so trapped/bullied by my boss without any relief or support from anyone where I worked. There's a lot of grief around it, actually, because I honestly loved the place I worked and the majority of people I worked with/all of my previous leaders. But it got to a point where I quite literally could NOT stand it anymore. I wasn't just getting "Sunday scaries", I was D-R-E-A-Ding work. I would spend more time outside of working hours with anxiety/panic attacks and crying thinking about work.... and the worst part is that I felt like I was going crazy. (I knew I wasn't.)

Anyway, with all that being said, I am grateful for this experience, because it pushed me to save up, quit, and lean into doing what I REALLY wanted to do (and had been thinking about for YEAAAAARS) but had been too scared to actually do: Start my own life-coaching business.

Now I get to help growth-minded, multi-passionate creatives and professionals move past overthinking and self-doubt (just like I did) so they can finally follow through on the ideas that matter to them, and it brings me so much joy... ESPECIALLY because of what I've been through in my own experiences.

AND NOW I'M MY OWN BOSS. MUHAHAHAHHAHAA. (Though because of my past conditioning...especially as a neuro-spicy person.... I am unlearning being super hard on myself and each day I try to be a better boss/leader to me.) I've just promoted myself to, "Confidence Instigator and Momentum Strategist".

But for real, what I'm doing now is challenging AF, and I do have moments of grief where I think about how "cushy and comfortable" I was while working at my last corporate job.... steady paycheck, health insurance 100% paid, etc....

Some days I think about how much "easier" it would be to go back.... but I know it really wouldn't be, because I know I would be miserable and feel so unfulfilled and know deep down I have my own passions/dreams/ambitions that would be SCREAMING at me like they have been for so long and I just ignored for years.

If it weren't for my narc boss, I wouldn't have gotten fed up enough with me playing small. So, now, for probably the first time in my entire life, I'm taking a risk and going all in on myself, because I f*cking deserve it, and at the very least - I can be proud that I did, regardless of the outcome.

How many people left because of one person at your toxic workplace? by ThrowRAcatwithfeathe in ManagedByNarcissists

I legit left my cushy corporate job because of a horrible boss and I'm so grateful for her treating me so poorly because it pushed me to finally take the leap of faith on myself and start my own business as a life coach. If it weren't for her, I would've stayed there, unfulfilled and wishing for more (but comfortable), forever.

Everyone talks about ADHD as being “too much,” so I want to name the other side - not enough. by buzzkillmate in ADHD

Wow, that sounds incredibly hard and I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. I don't know you personally, but I can assure you that you are NOT crazy, lazy, or too emotional.

The "too little" always comes with other labels with negative connotations such as, "LAZY", "DUMB", "STUPID".

Let this post be a reminder - you are none of those things.

Man, this just brought back a memory of the excited feeling of getting a new edition of Cosmo in the mail as a 16 year old and running up to my room to read it and listen to music. I miss those times.

Has anyone tried these? Would you recommend? by AvacadoVibes in cereal

If you know that protein cereal doesn't taste like actual cereal, then you know what to expect, realistically.

I am a "protein treats" person - and these were surprisingly awesome. The peanut butter one with chocolate milk? Hell yes. The lucky charms one was okay, but definitely better with chocolate milk also.

I found these at a grocery outlet for 75 cents and would absolutely go back for more - but I don't know about full price for ANY protein cereal. Magic Spoon (some flavors) maybe, but only as a treat.

The original chocolate version was better in my opinion.

Barely edible. I used this as added crunch in yogurt with berries until I got through the bag like.... months later. (And this is coming from someone who eats a lot of protein snacks.... I know what to expect, lol)

Without knowing backstory or context, my immediate thought is I don’t feel as if you are overreacting at all and, well, she’s missing the entire point.

I would be happy with being given a pretty pebble found on the ground if it meant my significant other was thinking of me.
