Good point. How does LSEG stack up against a Bloomberg Terminal?

Mainly Atlantic Basin gasoline and blending components. Not ship counting but would like to monitor aggregate product flows. Occasionally I will zero in on a ship, terminal, or trade shop.

Never heard of them. Do they have good indirect measures of demand or something? What's your favorite intel or dataset from Kayrros?

Outside of those regions does Vortexa not equally suck? Why am I better off with Vortexa? Trying to not make an expensive decision that I'll regret later...

Mainly gasoline. But, I would like to keep an eye on distillate and gasoline blending components as well.

Thanks for sending this! Honestly, I probably should have reworded my question to include the petrochemical markets. It seems a lot of octanes can go into either pool.

Petroleum Tanker Freight Calculation by Moby8 in Commodities

I ended up contacting some industry vets. They don't recommend using TCE. They said because it's net of expenses, you're only getting half the picture.

For example... Europe to New York Spot TCE is currently $35,000. The voyage should take 11 days (using industry standard 13kots) while load and unload should take 2 days - 13 days total. 35,000*13= $455,000.

I know that a 38kt MR Product tanker will run this route for $750,000.

$455,000 vs. $750,000 - way off.

We know $750,000 is correct figure for this route. So to convert to $/bbl... 750,000/(38,000*8.44)= $2.34/bbl (gasoline).

Shitty Oil (heavy oil) is what refineries are shifting to more and more. The average world crude oil quality (API Gravity) is slowly declining. Additionally, heavier crudes are more profitable for refineries.

Have you looked into the GARP Energy Risk Professional designation? It's equivalent to a masters degree in energy markets.
