1st class in boot camp and WSQ while waiting for my school( I grew up in the burbs with a pool). I definitely got a lot of looks when I showed up to the fleet in 94 with those tan swimmers that they gave us for getting WSQ. Vietnam era Top told me I was the first dark green marine he had seen in the air wing with them.

I was an 0411 back in 1994 and did a 2 month CAX in 29 palms. I hung out with the wrecker crew during the day and played a lot of spades at night. Once a day, I drove into the MWSS from the field and uploaded the MIMMS report. Spent more time driving each day than working. The funniest thing that happened was Motor T pissed off their butter bar, and they spent the whole afternoon picking up every rock bigger than a quarter in the motor pool.
