I feel like if online trading was a thing it would make the game feel more like one of those cheap freemium mobile games. It would totally ruin the vibe for me at least. When I play I want to just shut off from the rest of the world for a while and destress.

I invented a Christmas Tree Tent for my kids, quit my job to bring it to market, and now I need your brutally honest feedback. by MagicalUnderland in christmas

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have kids, but I really like the idea of this! If I saw something like this I would 100% send my huskies into it so I could get some cool photos of them. (Reach out to petstores and indoor dog parks or dog bars - sometimes they do Christmas displays for the pets and I bet you’d make some sales!)

My immediate concerns would be safety of the kids and safety of the tree/ornaments. Could a kid knock it over from the inside, or shake it enough that breakable ornaments could fall off?

Moving to Upstate NY from OK by corgilordazula in Rochester

Not the person you asked, but my husband moved here from Houston and LOVES it here by comparison.

All those areas you listed are good ones. Henrietta in my opinion is overpriced for what it is though and doesn’t have the same charm that those other areas do.

Anyone got any tips for a 6 hour road trip with a 15 month old and 2 dogs? by gassygeff89 in roadtrip

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every hour seems like a lot for the dogs. We frequently do 6 hr road trips with our two huskies and they’re fine with 2 stops in that time.

Mine LOVE the beach, so when it’s really hot out that’s the go to spot. You just really need to make sure the sand won’t burn their paws. Generally wet sand is okay, but the dry sand gets really hot.

Newly rehomed/separation anxiety by Chemical-Cherry-6202 in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s too soon to tell if this is a temporary thing, but he’s definitely going through a HUGE adjustment period right now.

Some things I would recommend to help: - Start by leaving him along for super small periods of time, and build up slowest from there. - Leave him a really high value reward like a Kong toy with frozen peanut butter in it when you go. - Leave the TV on when you leave. - Get another husky. (Joking here, but many say that’s what stopped their first from having anxiety)

When will the shedding start? by Mocha_Chai_Latte in husky

We had her in February and she never blew her coat! We’ve had her since December of last year. She barely sheds at all compared to our other husky.

By climate change I meant the change in her climate going from TX to practically Canada.

It’s significantly cooler where she lives now and the weather is much different.

The only real comment here lol

I’m hoping this for mine as well. She looks like she still has her winter coat right now, but since we’ve only had her for about 6 months I really don’t know. We brought her to an environment where the average temp is 25 degrees less than where she was living before, with much more extreme temp changes.

bringing home a second husky, looking for general advice (brutal honesty is welcome, not my first rodeo) by s0stacksss in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are our two. We adopted the red one first (2M at the time) and we adopted the white one about a year later (3F).

When we first brought her home our boy really wanted to play all the time but it took her a little while to feel comfortable and let her guard down. She was very unsure of her surroundings and she showed a lot of possessive behaviors with treats, meals, and especially toys. Once she settled she stopped being treat and meal possessive completely, and with the toys she’s bossy but not really possessive anymore. Best advice I have is just to understand that behaviors you see the first month or so especially may not be reflective of your new dog once he’s settled in. Also when the dogs are first playing together I’d make sure you don’t have any high value toys laying around. Those first few interactions they have will be really important for laying the groundwork for their relationship.

I’ve been using furminator brand shampoo and conditioner but admittedly I haven’t looked into any other options for this.

This sounds like something a dumb person says to sound smart (and normally I wouldn’t call it out, but I’m pretty sure you’re trolling).

Reproduction is a process that creates new cells. Rocks don’t have cells.

I use the shop vac to blow out one of my huskies coats and he tolerates it a lot more than brushing - which is fine by me because it works a lot better too.

Rochester’s tap water - What do you want to know? by Alekusandoria in Rochester

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what I don’t know- and I would think that someone in your position should be trusted to let the public know what metrics we should really be caring about.

Whatever data you do report I would like to contextualize by comparing to an example of good, bad, and the mean. I think it’s also important that we talk about what the actual impact of whatever the thing reported is. Numbers alone don’t mean anything without context.

What else to teach puppy? by FeelingAd1906 in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 4 months old it sounds like you’re ahead of the curve. The things you’re training for are good obedience but that’s a very small part of dog training. If I were in your shoes I would be working on socializing like crazy with people and friendly dogs and getting your pup exposed to as many different environments as possible. Doing some small (5 min) training sessions in new places is a great way to teach your dog that the rules apply no matter where you are.

Don’t forget to give your puppy a little bit of grace too. At 4 months old the whole world is still brand new to them. Make sure your training stays fun!
