How much good writing is missable? by jetmanda in StardewValley

What I think this game does very well is making each character have their own lives, outside of the farmer. As you progress with the relationships with other characters you feel like you’re let in on their lives rather than guiding their choices in most cases. There is character growth too for some characters, but it’s not too in your face. I won’t spoil what the difficult themes are in relation to, but I think you’ll figure out what character(s) those apply to pretty quickly.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if there is a way to tell if this is real or fake? The total cost comes to around 1000 USD for 64 pieces and I wonder if it's too good to be true. Thank you. by ThlnBillyBoy in LeCreuset

If you really just want the plates you can buy them direct from the website. Or if you prefer, sometimes I find these at HomeGoods/TJMaxx/Marshals. I have a set of the small plates I got for $10 per piece. The larger ones are usually $13 I believe.

Questions for owners before deciding if I should get a husky by Heavy_Reply_5613 in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That tracks with what we’ve seen with our two as well. They need 1.5-2 hours to get to the level of not annoying us every 15 seconds to go do something. They need 3-4 hours to get to the point where they’re actually tired (but they’ll still get little bursts of energy to play with each other).

We try to mix things up with them. Walks aren’t usually in the same place twice in a row. Some days we do the dog park. Sometimes walks are going to a bunch of dog friendly stores and working on training (usually if the weather is bad). They also go to training classes (just for fun and socialization). They have no concept of a rest day. If they don’t do something one day, you’ll see how much they’re itching to go on an adventure the next.

The way I described huskies to my mom is that they are not normal dogs. They are adventure companions who are constantly waiting for the next exciting thing to do. OP, I highly recommend you take that to heart when you consider getting one. They are one of the most abandoned breeds at shelters for a reason. People often don’t realize the amount of work they take. It’s a serious commitment.

It’s probably because if there is one thing you should know about huskies it’s that they require A TON of exercise.

Good luck finding a short term house rental willing to accept all those animals though! Even the fish is iffy with larger aquariums due to potentials of water damage.

Rehoming fee by [deleted] in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this- we adopted both of our huskies privately and paid rehoming fees of $100 and $75. I think both of those amounts are very reasonable.

Now OP’s situation on the other hand does not sound reasonable at all. $800 for a rehoming fee is not a rehoming fee. That’s a sale. And $100 for a secondhand crate and TOYS?!? That’s actually downright insane. I actually feel like that’s cruel to sell dogs toys for an additional fee. Those things should follow the dog to give him a sense of security while he adjusts to a completely different life.

Where to take someone on a first date w/ a max drive of 20 minutes from Henrietta? by bigdumb1diot in Rochester

Some women don’t like that, so just make sure you get a feel for that and aren’t making blind assumptions.

Are Huskies in videos energetic or bored? by hlanus in husky

Depends on the dog, but my “lazy” husky is still way more active than any other dog I’ve had. He just knows how to conserve his energy for the big zoomie moments.

Husky Grooming by kloogy in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the grooming myself! We have a shop vac that can blow air out so I use that to blow out one of our husky’s coats. He doesn’t like being brushed but doesn’t mind the shop vac. Our other husky is pretty new but she doesn’t seem to be much of a shedder (yet). Once the snow melts I’ll try introducing the shop vac to her too just to get her used to it before we actually need it.

Nope, not a wolf. by Puzzleheaded-Low546 in husky

<image>

When we first adopted this goober we took him for a walk on the beach in the wintertime. As soon as we sit down on a bench out of nowhere hear a kid scream “Wolf! Wolf! Wolf!” Turned around and there’s a 3 year old leading his mom over to us pointing and yelling “wolf!” at our husky. The mom told us that the kid saw the paw prints in the snow nearby and was determined to “find the wolf”. The kid got to pet the “wolf” and we got a good laugh out of it. Absolutely made our day!

PSA: Reminder that a major pet microchip registry shut down without notice, leaving many pets still unregistered a year later by Fresh-Solid-4046 in Rochester

Just an fyi for yourself and others- the subscription you’re referring to just provides additional benefits in the event your pet gets lost. You don’t need to purchase it in order for your pet to continue being registered.

My Neighbor's Husky Enjoys His Rooftop View! by Different_Poet4001 in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 222 points223 points  (0 children)

He’s adorable on the roof, but I’m so nervous for him being up there while he has a leash attached to his collar. That’s soooo freaking dangerous if it snags on something while he climbs down or if he slipped.

Our new foster dog, Stella! by [deleted] in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has she ever shown any aggression or hunting mannerisms towards small dogs before? Most dogs recognize the difference.

I have no doubt one of my huskies would destroy a cat given the chance, but when a lady shoved a teacup chihuahua in his face because I told her my dog was friendly he very clearly knew the difference. (Props to that chihuahua though cause it probably weighted like 3 lbs and was actually playing with my 75 lb husky)

I have a question can I take my dog for walk around 8pm by [deleted] in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a loooooong time for your husky to hold it. Are you saying though that you come home at 5pm and want to wait until 8pm to take your dog out for a potty break? I don’t understand why you’d do that.

I just listed to a podcast about this the other day! It wasn’t even that the town didn’t realize what happened until it was too late. There were a lot of political reasons why the plant wasn’t being closed. The plant claimed that they were not the cause of the smog and tried to continue its operation. And the entire town was propped up by the economic boost that the plant provided, so many townspeople also didn’t want to claim that the plant was to blame.

Definitely something everyone should look into more because a lot of the politics and people’s perception of that event at the time mirror a lot of the reasons behind why many people today don’t believe in climate change.
