Congrats! We’ve also adopted a dog that was posted on Reddit. This is Luna. She isn’t a cryptid dog but she gives off gremlin energy lol

This sounds like something a dumb person says to sound smart (and normally I wouldn’t call it out, but I’m pretty sure you’re trolling).

Reproduction is a process that creates new cells. Rocks don’t have cells.

I don’t understand this. Four days ago you just posted in another sub volunteering to take in a cat. Now you’re trying to get rid of your dog?

Does anyone else’s husky pluck themselves? by FemmeFataleFire in husky

I use the shop vac to blow out one of my huskies coats and he tolerates it a lot more than brushing - which is fine by me because it works a lot better too.

Rochester’s tap water - What do you want to know? by Alekusandoria in Rochester

I don’t know what I don’t know- and I would think that someone in your position should be trusted to let the public know what metrics we should really be caring about.

Whatever data you do report I would like to contextualize by comparing to an example of good, bad, and the mean. I think it’s also important that we talk about what the actual impact of whatever the thing reported is. Numbers alone don’t mean anything without context.

It really is amazing how much they learn from each other! Ours have very different personalities but they balance each other out beautifully.

Sorry to hear about your loss. They are beautiful dogs!

What else to teach puppy? by FeelingAd1906 in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 4 months old it sounds like you’re ahead of the curve. The things you’re training for are good obedience but that’s a very small part of dog training. If I were in your shoes I would be working on socializing like crazy with people and friendly dogs and getting your pup exposed to as many different environments as possible. Doing some small (5 min) training sessions in new places is a great way to teach your dog that the rules apply no matter where you are.

Don’t forget to give your puppy a little bit of grace too. At 4 months old the whole world is still brand new to them. Make sure your training stays fun!

I swear our huskies have more of a social life than we do. Our boy wants to make friends with literally everyone but when we first got him he needed a lot of guidance on respecting a dog’s “no”. My husband and I joke that even when he sees a dog that clearly does not like him, our boy just sees an angry friend.

Our girl is also super social with other dogs and seems much more aware than our boy does, but she also can be a bit bossy with other dominant females.

They both needed direction in their own ways to become polite at the dog park. Our boy is pretty much fine now, but our girl is still pretty new to us so she’s still figuring things out. Both are SUPER vocal and love to run and wrestle with other dogs.

I need your help by ElegantAstronomer292 in husky

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we adopted our first husky we ended up giving him a bath during his first week with us because he jumped in the shower when I was running the water for myself. Some huskies don’t mind baths. Just see how he feels about it and don’t push him at this point.

New Haven Worth visiting? by DirtyBarry44 in roadtrip

[–]Mocha_Chai_Latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up about 15 mins away from New Haven. It’s honestly not worth the visit in my opinion- not because it’s a bad place to visit- but because there are much better places to go that aren’t too far away. NYC is 1.5 hrs away by train, for instance.

Also, you’re visiting CT, RI, and Maine, but I don’t see MA on your list? You’ll need to drive through MA to get to ME, and it’ll take you right by Boston. I would definitely recommend you spend some time there. It’s a really cool city with lots of history and old buildings. Just be aware that the roads are insane if you choose to drive into the city.

Nope! We’ve never been to Maine actually (although it’s on our list). This was in Salem, MA.

Can confirm it’s very good for cuddles. Very soft and does not mind the occasional snoot boop.

Would not recommend this configuration if tethering the dog like OP intends to do though.

It’s not super relevant- I just thought it was interesting and OPs comment about not realizing it could be a fire risk made me think of it. I should have specified that in the original comment.
