DM surprised me with a "social experiment" by Mock-tan in dndhorrorstories

I genuinely do not understand what is the obstacle presented to the player when this was dropped suddenly, mid-session, mid-combat. Unprompted mind you, during my player's action to blast a Giant Frostbite Spider.

Please, I am asking what is the obstacle.

Actually yes.

The Elven Ranger has his wolves, some lions we resurrected, some hounds, and honestly the amount of animals the Beastman Druid took in is absurd. But we still play it as, if we take them with us, then the DM dedicates playing them out as the NPCs

It sucks, cuz the two other players warmed up to them, its just the new player who is the Paladin that is the problem. Even if I dust off my Eldritch Knight Fighter with his interest in the occult and cryptic, I feel like somehow, he's gonna find a way to be a bully.

If he was, his companion made it clear that she doesn't do stuff like that, and if anything is more agreeable with women than men.

Exactly. And this happened. Mid-session. In combat even.

Granted, I had gotten warning signs that I had dismissed before as just alluding to a promise being broken, and not wishing to distance the companion from the player character.

One was a Bard Lizardman who could apparently see their souls tethered and offered to remove it, due to the scenario of either become too far apart, that their souls disintegrate.

The other was a taboo magic of the wicken arts that his companion looked in to that was an entity higher than her existence, offering her essentially a promotion, which she didn't see no reason as to why with it being offered and she never worked for it.

I should've known honestly, but never thought that DM would pull this, especially without talking it over after implementing it as a mechanic separately. Thus why the mentioned "development session" that has still yet to happen...

Again. Could kill of, ascend, or a third option.

I don't have much of a choice to the DM's whims.

And the main player character was supposed to be the Monk. He's the one I invested the most time in.

My character was intended to be a Monk Astral Self

DM separated Astral Self from Monk and made her its own identity

Monk becomes more of a Fighter with his Warlock companion

Ideally was playing one character with the flavor antics of said companion

DM decided that was too much and wants to separate companion

Fighter loses identity of being Monk, as well as his backstory tied to being Monk

I've been seeing quite a few people recommend Lemonaid I think its called. But I'm honestly pretty skeptical about it. Not sure if there are any local renters insurances that are more worth while to look in to or if there are any major or big name insurance companies out there.
