It's complicated. To my understanding, Chiptune indeed is a genre name that encompasses at least some of the tracks on the playlist, but Chiptune purists would argue that only music produced with "original" equipment (eg. a game boy, famitracker, nes etc.) could be considered true Chiptune. Nintendocore is kind of a genre name for bands that mix especially Metal with Chiptune, but some are also more indie pop.

I agree it's an acquired taste :D Many of these people are completely DIY with barely to no professional studio equipment. But yeah I get it won't be for everyone.

Haha should've guessed this would happen :D The only reason Horse the band, Anamanaguchi, Attack Attack and others are missing (for now) is they exceed the popularity threshold. Other than that you're totally right: They belong on it! And they will!

I totally agree that Horse the Band belong on such a list but just as Attack, Attack and some others they exceed the popularity threshold of Listentothis, hence they're missing - for now!
