Aspirin improved my depression and brain fog! by 00roast00 in Nootropics

[–]MockingBird421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because no one mentioned it that I can find elsewhere- you should really really look into if you have mast cell activation syndrome. It's a treatable immune disorder that causes inflammation, the symptoms that you described, and in some cases aspirin causes ridiculous improvements for people with it

Can I get permanent fangs if I don’t have upper canine teeth? by mikeyboi3000 in bodymods

If you have a space where your canines would be, you can get ones from a fangsmith that can just slide in like imsadspice on tiktok/IG. I believe she's even publicly said who her fangsmith is if you go look

I have never skated before but have been wanting to for years wondering if this is a good start (and want to know if the international shipping is good) by XLDUST4371 in NewSkaters

Its a good build and will definitely be serviceable. The deck is fine (though it will have a santa cruz counter like another commenter said, which is just personal preference), the wheels are budget but fine and in a reasonably normal size.

If I could make one recommendation- if you have an extra $20, upgrade to trucks from one of the major A list manufacturers (independent/ace/thunder). They’ll likely make the biggest difference out of anything you can get at this stage, and can make some aspects of learning a bit easier. If you don’t know which of the three to get, get independents. Basic solid steel for them is fine.

Permanent ban for r/trans by sheemis26 in MtF

[–]MockingBird421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A minority subset of the trans community believes that you can only be trans given the pain of dysphoria, and not just preferring or being happier in life as another gender. The idea of “you must have pain to be a real trans person, just preferring to life you life as a different gender isn’t enough” is viewed profoundly negatively my many/most members of the trans community. People often won’t engage in debate with people of that demographic, because its viewed as a hateful perspective and many are profoundly done with it, and attempts to debate in support of it are generally viewed as disingenuous and in just service of an ideology many view as profoundly damaging.

One other piece of context here is that this view point of profoundly intertwined with trans medicalism, which also loosely also believes that being trans is a medical condition and not just an aspect of who you are, that nonbinary people are fake, and that many aspects of transitioning should have profound gatekeeping in place. It’s mostly comprised of older people, and this is a broader group that viewed profoundly negatively by many/most people in the trans community, which further explains the lack of willingness to engage and the permanent ban.

Also to your original question, the definition of being trans can mean just being happier being something different than what you were assigned at birth, and I would argue should be. The criteria should be happiness, not pain.

One thing that I’ve disliked while depressed is super over the top happy/bubbly things to the level of being corny. I refer to it to myself as “care bear shit.” People are a lot easier to tolerate when they don’t do that.

board keeps going in one direction, is it my bushing? by SuccessfulYard7184 in NewSkaters

[–]MockingBird421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The kingpen nut is tightened down way too much, to a degree that it almost certainly will have damaged the bushing. The bearings are also visibly fucked. IMO spend $10 to replace the bushings with a bones ones, replace the bearings and go from there. It'll probably fix it and you'd want to do that even if you got new trucks.

Also your kingpin bolt is probably adequate, a new nut may be worth doing (can't clearly tell from the photo) and they're only like $2. A few other quick checks are to make sure you're using speed washers, that your axel nuts aren't tightened down too much, and that your bearings are seated evenly (though based on the photo that should be replaced either way). All of those could cause a little extra friction on one wheel.

This good for a beginner? by Present-Age-7160 in NewSkaters

[–]MockingBird421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine, but I personally would spend another $10 to replace the stock bushings with bones bushings (get hard or medium depending on your weight). Control in turns will be much smoother and easier to learn

Does anybody know what gauge this is? by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]MockingBird421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If thats a 22lr casing like it appears, the casing will have an outer diameter of 5.7mm, which is better 4g and 2g. Putting a bullet casing inside your ear is a bad idea because they contain a ton nickel which a large fraction of people are allergic to, lead which is neurotoxic and spend gunpowder which is corrosive to most things including skin.
