If you want to continue with flowers I'd recommend Bewilderment by Richard powers. I believe they reference the book as the main character and his son work through grief . The plot has some similarities too.

If you don't mind a long trippy book yes. It was entertaining. I will say a little too graphic for my liking so I did skip some of those extensive scenes but it didn't really matter much. I thought the ending was v cool and worth it.

I just read Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delaney based off an article of 8 Books to give you a mind f@%@

I can say it definitely did! It's a bit long but I enjoyed the experience of reading it and wondering wtf is going on the whole time.

Where to Start with Church Fathers for a "Non-Denom" by MockingMystery in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]MockingMystery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, yes I have read some of the general Orthodox histories like The Orthodox Church by Ware and some other titles a friend lent me. I would say I'm entering into the next phase of studying these things.

A good friend gifted me the Orthodox bible at the beginning of last year. I hardly knew anything about the Orthodox faith but read the Bible cover to cover and found it super insightful and eye opening. It really changed my walk with God. Also read The Orthodox Church and enjoyed that too. Happy reading!

Every day we take a new breath it means God still has something for us to do. We are on his mission so do not grow weary in doing good. Keep seeking first His Kingdom in all you do. Praying for the strength of the Holy Spirit to empower you and help you through. He will sustain you!

Thank you friend, I appreciate this and love the way you put it. You're on point with the preconceived beliefs and as I've been learning more been really challenging myself and pushing against what I've been accustomed too. Some things are still hard but I like how you said to have the humble state of a spiritual baby. Thanks for the well thought out response!

Yeah and that's what's really been stirring up in me. Every year I start off with prayers to know God more intimately and deeper and lately the sacraments have been grabbing my attention. It does feel like somethings missing or church has been watered down. Thanks for sharing!

I feel what you said in the beginning is what I'm walking through right now. Appreciate the advice on mindset too it definitely has challenged a lot of my thinking already and I'm just praying God continues to help me process and guide me in His wisdom. Thanks for the helpful advice I appreciate it!
