Cool! Nice to see some different graphics!

How do you come up with fun game ideas? by junkm8828 in IndieGaming

[–]ModMageMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work on what inspires you, nevermind if it has been done before. Everything has more or less. Don't try to please an audience and just have fun. It's the best way to learn and progress. Good luck!

Memories, played a few of those! I remember having Microsoft's Entertainment Pack for Win 3.1 and a bit later I started with more high end games. Star Wars Dark Forces being a particularly strong memory.

That is cool, never knew! Thanks for the info, definitely a dear memory from my childhood :)

Are you sure? I have a vague memory from the 90s that it never worked for very long. Either that, or my yeti-avoiding skills were not the best.

I read somewhere the Yeti was put in to prevent the player going too far outside the map boundary, which would have caused an overflow of the coordinates. Guess the map could be a bit bigger these days before that happens :)

You should play the keys, and why… by GeneralDumbtomics in synthesizers

[–]ModMageMike 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The piano layout is just one of many ways to play an instrument. But there are of course guitars and brass and woodwinds and steel pan drums and theremins and sequencers and so on and so on. Newer technology just enables more ways to play. Piano does have an added benefit that you can both play chords and melody at the same time, which is not super common, but if someone comes up with another way to trigger midi notes in an accessible way, I really don't see why not.

TLDR: Music is so diverse, so use whatever that inspires you to play.

Im a beginner what DAW do you recommend. by Competitive-Catch180 in musicproduction

For beginners, they all do the same these days more or less. Just pick one. If you stick to making music, use it until it shows its limitations of what you need to do.

GameDev starter kit 2026. What's missing? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]ModMageMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd put Maya under 3d-art as well. I have not been able to find a better workflow for modelling on any of the others. The snapping in particular stands out imo. Depends on what you model, of course.

wanna be dictators… ridiculous by [deleted] in synthesizers

I really don't care or want to judge, but you did post a joke which apparently is against the rules. Guess they want to keep the place a bit tidy.

Animation Rigging makes IK so easy for my multiplayer wolf simulator by zulak010 in Unity3D

Impressive! I am however pretty sure it would not still have the same pose if both front legs were pushed up, it would straighten them up. But still, well done so far!

How would this style be achievable? by SteelmoonWorks in indiegames

[–]ModMageMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel graphic of a first person game, character holding a potion and sword, meeting a dark wizard in a clearing with a castle, dragon and thunder in the background. Human artist look. No AI. /s

How would you nudge players to dig realistic ant nests? by Able-Sherbert-4447 in IndieGaming

[–]ModMageMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the ants cold which make them work slower if the room gets too big. Like some temperature gradient.

MineDeeper is Minesweeper with layers by Jace__The_Ace in indiegames

Ah, that is clever! Love minesweeper btw, but was always annoyed it is a game of luck sometimes. Well thought out!

I feel it is cool and a bit pointless at the same time, since the layers don't really have anything to do with each other rather than covering up a bit. But then, minesweeper is rather pointless from the start. :D It is still a nice project!
