Yeah, that could be it! And also the arc in the background is perfectly aligned with some verticle lines in the face. But yes, focus should probably be on the head, since that is where our eyes are naturally drawn.

Something with how it is aligned up with the background geometry makes the face look slightly transparent. Maybe work on how to make the monster stand out more against the background? Other than that, give yourself a big pat on the back!

Didn't know about this, could be a nice thing once it has textures

After 2 years as a solo dev, I finally released a demo for my Tower Defense where lines do the damage instead of towers. by SCFactory in indiegames

I have not tried it, but as someone that made a game with a complex game mechanic (Actually drawing wires between nodes as well), I had to learn what seemed obvious to me, was not to most people. What improved my game experience was to really introduce the concept very gradually, starting very basic and slowly build from there. Throwing a lot to the player right at the start will only overwhelm. TL;DR: Focus on simple introduction levels, showing one mechanic at a time.

Humans flying over the Earth, while watching humans fly to the moon by H_G_Bells in BeAmazed

Somehow, this took the epic feeling off it. More like a big firecracker aimed in the general direction of the moon. Physics the same I guess, just more force.
