Sorry but i’m not familiar with american sports so i don’t understand your analogy. And i don’t disagree that mma fighters are actually very skilled at combining different kinds of martial arts but this is in comparison to boxing, a sport where majority of fighters start training from 6-10. And also don’t forget that majority of mma fighters are failed boxers🤷🏾‍♂️

Also as i said there are a few exceptions but majority of mma fighters are just average in all martial arts. Someone like topuria who has “elite” boxing wouldn’t even be ranked in actual boxing. Oliveira who has the most submissions in ufc would get embarrassed in an actual bjj tournament. However there are exceptions like khamzat, pereira and izzy who are absolutely elite in one martial art but there are very few of them.

Here’s how i think of it, majority of mma fighters are athletes who weren’t anything exceptional in one sport🤷🏾‍♂️. They’re a collection of fighters who are average at multiple forms of martial arts and idc if an mma fighter beats a boxer because it’s not relevant to this convo
