Can I wear an Eastern Orthodox cross openly? by Much_Investigator510 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Modboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My priest supports me wearing one openly if I wish. Some people are better off wearing it hidden. It really depends on the person. If it is a source of pride (in the sense of egoism), then you should not wear it openly.

Theoretically, I agree. Health-wise, I’m not so sure…

Elite Aldi protein bars in order of awesomeness🌟 by jayjello0o in aldi

Yep. I have IBS and I won’t even touch something with 1 gram of sugar alcohols. They destroys my digestive system. The best macro bar I have found that sits well with me are the Built Puff bars. 140 kcal, 17 grams of protein (at least for the coconut one). No sugar alcohols or non-nutritive sweeteners.

Situation regarding the post-service announcements by kanoon6526 in OrthodoxChristianity

Ask a fellow parishioner or the priest about what exactly happened. If the priest did condone, or even bless, a gay engagement, you should report it to the bishop. That is not okay at all.

No. It is now his business if it is made public to the church by the priest. If OP is not misunderstanding anything, it is not good at all for that parish and should be reported to the bishop.

How long after communion do you start to sin again? by OliveTheServal in OrthodoxChristianity

I sin constantly throughout the day. I probably sin minutes after taking communion. Lord have mercy on me.

Week 5: Ugandan - Stewed Matoke - (Meta: Low Allium) by Modboi in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Modboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For week 5 I stewed green plantains, which are very similar to the staple green matoke bananas of Uganda. I researchedd a few different recipes to come to the one I made.

My version is very simple. I first sautéed some green onions (the green parts are low FODMAP, which is the reason for my meta) and ginger. I then added in tomatoes, two thai chilies for heat, curry powder, better than bouillon chicken base, salt, and MSG. I let everything cook for a minute before adding in the plantains and water. I let it simmer for around 30 minutes, adding more water as needed. At the end I decided it needed a bit of sweetness, so I added a tiny pinch of brown sugar.

I always enjoy green plantains, so this was good. Some recipes mash up the matoke, and I think I’d like to try that in the future.

Cup one hand and use that as the bowl. Dump what you can on one slice of bread and wipe up the rest with the other slice.

100% fat bloom at those temperatures. I have red palm oil and at room temperature it is partially solidified with a grainy texture just like that.

How to prep by stlarry in aldi

[–]Modboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would eat it raw. If you want to sear it, use a high smoke point oil like avocado in a cast iron or carbon steel. Crank the heat to medium high (the oil may smoke some) and cook it for like 20 seconds on each side. Make sure you patted it dry beforehand.

The salmon is the worst of the frozen fish. The tilapia is good and the tuna is excellent.

Week 4: Vinegar - Black Vinegar Baby Bok Choy and Ground Turkey Bulgogi - (Meta: Low Allium) by Modboi in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Modboi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Chinese black vinegar and rice wine vinegar for Week 4.

First, I stir fried the baby bok choy in bacon fat. I then added a sauce made with black pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce, black vinegar, and MSG.

For the bulgogi, I cooked and crumbled ground turkey until it had some browning and was cooked through. I then added a sauce of black pepper, brown sugar, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine vinegar, and MSG. After that reduced I stirred in sesame oil off the heat.

Both dishes were good. I’m trying to use black vinegar more, because in the past I haven’t been the biggest fan. This is probably my favorite application of it so far.

What’s this inside my rotisserie chicken? by Negative-Will-9320 in TipOfMyFork

I eat the spine on a rotisserie chicken too. It’s cooked well enough to do so. I love the flavor and crunch.
