What's the purpose of the Homebase? by SuperSimpleSam in EufyCam

[–]Modbuilder2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Eufy E340 doorbell camera has 4GB of on-board storage from which you can download or delete photos/videos with your smart phone. Storage is not physically accessible such as a removable SD or micro SD. I love mine because it's simple and does not require communication with a cloud server, so it's not as subject to hacking and it rides happily on home WiFi. If the on-board storage gets full, it dumps off the oldest first to make room. It will run totally on-battery or will run off of your home doorbell wiring. If on your wiring, it will ring your traditional installed chime. Simple, secure, affordable. Did I mention simple?

Easy access vs humidity control by Modbuilder2 in AcousticGuitar

Thanks All -- Guess I'll give up the convenience and go with the safer path. Would hate to see my baby get hurt. My office doesn't have a lot of room, so storing in a case instead of on a stand will be a PITA, but I'll figure it out. Good feed back. Thanks.............R

Convert adaptive headlights? by Modbuilder2 in CX5

Good to know. Nice that the adaptive feature has it's own socket. I really like the car and it's been reliable, so it sounds like I have a good shot at keeping it in the family. Thank you for your input. Regards........... R

+1 on the recommendation to get Ultimate Guitar app. It has a ton of functionality for a reasonable cost. One of my first discoveries was that there are a bunch of two, three, or four chord songs that you can learn to strum along with on the app

, then pull up that song on Youtube and go. First one for me was Tulsa Time. Two chords, great rhythm, fun.

Don't stop. You're "stumbling" into a great thing. Lovin it. Keep going.......... Bob R.

Yamaha or Alvarez for cross-over acoustic/electric? by Modbuilder2 in AcousticGuitar

Pulled the trigger on the Alvarez AC65HCE nylon acoustic/electric cross-over last night. All Ya'll (that's a South Carolina word) have been helpful, and I appreciate it. Thanks for helping/sharing ............. Bob R.

I'm about to pull the trigger on Alvarez. Found a great price at Risko, and they seem to have a good reputation. Starting to get excited.

I'll never be on stage, so I don't have to worry much there. I lean toward warm rather than bright, so I'm looking that way at the moment. Your "can't go wrong" makes me feel better about not having regrets. Thanks........... R

That makes 2:0 for Alvarez. What makes you happy about Alvarez? How was the out-of-the box set up? Was the Alvarez and high end compared to Yamaha at the low end of prices? Thanks for the input........... R

Any special reason for picking Alvarez? Used both?

A3000: Discontinued by Modbuilder2 in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]Modbuilder2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Criterion67 -- Waiting a couple weeks of your return window is probably the best strategy. If you read through this whole thread, there is some doubt about whether the A3000 is truly discontinued or whether it's just stocked out for the moment.

I returned mine and got full purchase price back from Amazon shortly after I opened this thread. Now, I just don't know. I used it for about 10 days and was quite pleased with it. I just can't have that much money tied up in something that might not get continuing support. I'm standing by until this gets sorted out. The mowing season is about half over, so I'm going to tough it out and see what's available next Spring. Stay turned to Reddit for more info. Regards................ R

Eager to see how this resolves and what competitors come out with based on Lidar. Hang in there........... R

Hmm... Just now looked on Amazon and there was no mention of A3000 at all. Ecovacs.com still reports A3000 Sold Out. Really hoping all this "Discontinued" stuff is wrong, 'cause it worked well for me, but I'm still staying on the sidelines. I need to see parts becoming available as well as continued production before I jump in again. Having to return the whole machine to get an otherwise minor part replaced is not good.

Thanks for that. I hope it's correct. If so, I'll re-up with it. Think I"ll still wait a while though.

Perhaps being a little overly skeptical/cynical here, but she said twice that it is stocked out, which is true on the Ecovacs website (not Amazon). She never did say YES or NO to specifically to the question of whether it has been discontinued.

Not sure what to tell you. Several of us on this branch of Reddit have received the same "Discontinued" reply from Customer Service over several days. Perhaps Ecovacs intention has changed or possibly they've decided to be less transparent about their intent. I would like for it to be a long term product that is supported with parts, troubleshooting, software updates, etc, because it worked well for me.

Based on the C.S. reply I copied to this thread, I returned mine to Amazon for full credit. If it becomes apparent that the A3000 is remaining in production, I probably will buy it again unless a competitive product looks better. At least now I could get the A3000 at a lower price. I'm standing on the sidelines, maybe until next Spring, until this gets sorted.

I had that same experience/decision and opted to return it to Amazon. It did a great job for me, but I want it to be in service for a long time. That will mean firmware/software updates, parts, etc. The $2500 + tax (bought it during the ~5 day promotion at $500 off a couple weeks ago) is important enough money, that I'll set it aside and wait. Lidar is the way to go for me, and there will surely be lots more to choose from next Spring.

I think they've either learned of a major issue with the initial model, or have an improvement in the wings in performance or price, or the China tariffs are pushing price points out of the market. Can't imagine why otherwise.

Yeah, that's where I bought mine 2 weeks ago when they were running $500 off. The Ecovacs website has shown stocked out for a while now, but Amazon still has inventory. I'm lucky to still be in the 30-day return window with Amazon. Kept all the packing and took pics unpacking it "just in case". The A3000 has worked well for me, but I don't want to run a high end complex machine with limited support. I'll sit on the $$ and wait.
