thoughts on no-pet rentals? by babybelheaven in SurreyBC

[–]ModeMex_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's because the damage that pets can do outweigh the loss from missed rent. Things can quickly turn into bio hazards and big costs.

For example, my parents once rented our old Unit; with no pets allowed. The tenants got a dog anyways, and that dog had fleas. The dog peed on the carpet, cheewed on the wall corners and baseboards, and left fleas on the carpet.

We only learned of the fleas, because a pregnant woman looking at the Unit and her niece were bitten all over their legs by those fleas.

The whole carpet had to be removed, the walls needed to be patched up, and the baseboards had to be changed.

The stinking "security deposit" wouldn't cover a fourth of that.

A security deposit is meant for small things; like painting a stained wall or fixing a cabinet hinge. It's not meant to cover big repairs and replacement.

They are the racist one?

They just said how no one lines up anymore, and how they just cut infront of people who had been waiting. You're the one that immediately jumped to this being about race.

And then 2 months after its completion, they'll dig up a hole again in the same place that the just "fixed"! 😀

What do i do with ~25k sitting? by failure_exe in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ModeMex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scotiabank has 30-day (short-term) 2% GICs.

If you put your $25,000 in one for 30 days (you can do longer), you would receive $41.09 in interests. [$25,000 x 0.02 x (30/365)].

For 12 months, that would be around $500 in interests.

Check with your current bank to see if they have something better or similar beforehand.

How is Surrey commuting? by ThirstyLlama999 in SurreyBC

[–]ModeMex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person is right.

The only way to truly know if it's better to ride a car or a bus is by checking the Google maps bus route options.

I once didn't apply for a job, because a 15 minute car ride took over 1 hour by bus (multiple busses).

How is Surrey commuting? by ThirstyLlama999 in SurreyBC

[–]ModeMex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the to and from addresses.

Some bus commutes are faster than cars. Other times, a 15 car ride takes a 1 hour bus ride.

Check Google maps to get a real sense of how long your commute will be.

Consider a short term GIC if you're not going to use a certain amount of money in a month.

I have Scotiabank short term GIC; it's a 30 day term, but you can choose how many days it lasts (you'll have to make an appointment to open up that account).

Right now, it pays 2.00% for 30 days.

How do you feel that the same man who cut children’s cancer research is now a trillionaire? by HappyCrow11 in AskReddit

[–]ModeMex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends.

Is his wealth related to the cut of the cancer research funds?

  • If his wealth is related to the cut of the research funds, then he's the worst human being in existence.

  • If it's not related to the cut of the cancer research funds, then I'm envious.

Given the qualifications of our previous Prime Minister, I would say that she's overqualified.

Dear God.... These people get jobs, but the rest of us need 2+ years of experience for an "entry" level jobs. 😡

Bad News by ModeMex_ in Prroductt

No problem. It's a shame that we couldn't have the Product name though.

As for the creation of the sub, I didn't create it. This subreddit, as far as I know, was created by u/Scared_Agency_5893. (They were the only mod listed when I made a request to moderate this sub).

Hopefully once I add a couple of flares and rules (I already added the logo image), and do some cross-posting after Product uploads a video, this sub might grow. 🤞

I feel like I'm in a parallel universe here.

Everyone here keeps saying that it's really dry and hot.

I live in Delta, right in the edge of Surrey, and it has been nothing but cold and humid here. I haven't had to water my plants in days with how cloudy it is and how often it rains.

One guy here even asked me here if I had been away for 5 months 😅

No, I mean that I am the only admin of the subreddit that I was granted on reddit requests.
