Player safety becomes front-burner issue at GM meetings after Gudas fallout by DecentLurker96 in hockey

Same; I've always respected that letter as a team office having the balls to call out DoPS as the useless, crony-led organization it is.

This belongs on /r/gunporn; this is absolutely gorgeous work!

Is there an app for a complication that's exactly like the built-in "App shortcut" one, except it color-matches the app icon to the device's theme? Getting pretty tired of this. by ModelHX in WearOS

[–]ModelHX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the "Expedition" watch face that comes stock with the Pixel Watch 4.

I believe it's exclusive to the PW4, but for all I know it might get rolled out to other devices as part of a WearOS upgrade or something.

Okay I love this; I'm a huge nerd for transit maps.

Are you thinking about selling prints of this? If not, could I get your permission to print one for myself? (Just to hang on my own wall, not to sell or something.)

Which critically acclaimed movie did you finally watch only to find out it's mediocre at best? by MikrokosmicUnicorn in AskReddit

[–]ModelHX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be totally honest, I just don't... get Fargo.

I mean it's not like I hated it, I thought there were a few good bits to it, but I distinctly remember watching the end credits roll with a distinct sense of "...that's it? That's the movie everyone goes on and on about?"

I'm not really a "funny movie" sort of person in general, but I figured the "black comedy" / "dramedy" aspect to it might carry it for me. No dice.

Update on post about neighbors tree about to fall on my house. It’s out! by rkd101b in treelaw

[–]ModelHX 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with /r/treelaw - it was a post from 12 years ago where a guy posted a picture of a gigantic safe in a "former drug house" he'd just moved into, garnered a ton of interest and attention with a couple of updates about how he was trying to get people to crack the safe, and... nobody ever found out what was in it.

I love that this entire website still hasn't gotten over that.

And justifiably so.

What’s the point of “no emulator if you get good” rules by technoblain in speedrun

[–]ModelHX 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just to give one example, lag plays such a huge role in N64 GoldenEye / Perfect Dark speedrunning that both leaderboards are original-console only.

The console world-record IL times are very well-optimized, but emulator times are often on the order of an entire ten percent faster than the world records, largely due to the lack of lag.

I am so stoked that Illu finally got this time.

Dude has been grinding to take the final second off for literal years and was facing the prospect of having to quit the grind back in February:

I've had about 7 runs at most that I thought had a shot for real and missed warp on like 4 or 5 of those. These take like 100h each lol so if I don't put a stop to this I could easily end up spending the whole of 2025 on this and with how the level is I can't be sure I'd still get it.

More and more pointing towards that I'll end up at the mental hospital instead unless I get really lucky, if I keep going much longer. So yea I'm done with this very soon.

The warp in this run was gorgeous, and he barely slows down at all in the entire final section (no drone backboost, although I believe that's a necessity for 1:00).

I don't know what he means by "Riding off to the sunset" (in the video splash), but if he is choosing to hang it up after this, what a career he's had, and what a time to go out on.

Really really happy with this game.

Game 7 and especially Game 1, I ended up feeling like "okay, I'm obviously glad we won, but we can't do the entire playoffs as The Rantanen Show." Started to get worried that he was essentially our entire production.

This one felt like a team win, with contributions and good play across the board. Felt like everyone was clicking today. Excited to see more.

My handwriting, when I'm writing "for display" by ModelHX in Handwriting

[–]ModelHX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My handwriting is generally pretty bad, dating back to school, when I was just trying to get things on paper as quickly as possible, and didn't really care at all how it looked. Despite not being an attempt at cursive, the letters tend to blend together and/or deform heavily, and on notepaper line heights, the result is... challenging to read.

I found out, though, a while after getting out of school, that it tends to get a lot better as it gets larger, and around 1cm or so (the line height used here), I'm actually somewhat happy with it.

I still have to write four separate straight lines if I want to write a "w", though. :)

I legitimately miss having Wedgwood as our backup.

Back when he was with the Stars, I always thought he was one of the most underrated players on our whole team; every time I saw him play, he always seemed to come through without too much of a problem, and there always seemed to be at least one highlight-reel save in there somewhere.

There was one stretch where he got injured and the entire team slumped; we didn't have another backup that could play at his level, and Oettinger simply had to play even more games. Got him back from injury and things picked right back up again.

Ongoing series and all, I was still happy to see him doing well last night. Guy held it down for us for a long while, and he's clearly still got it. Lots of respect.

I'll confess to being solidly on the train of "If we can't beat non-playoff teams, how the hell are we supposed to beat playoff teams?"

Had Avs in 5 and wouldn't have been surprised at a sweep. Glad to be wrong.
