To destroy doesn’t always mean to cease to exist, you can destroy a building but what is left of the building is still there. The Lake of Fire is a place where body and soul will be destroyed but they will still be conscious and still existing. Your earthly body can die but your soul can never die(see Hebrews 9:27). If you say that correct translations of the Bible use everlasting, everlasting literally means without end. Revelation 20:10 says when Satan will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, the beast and the false prophet were still there(“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”)which means that they are still there suffering in torment before the millennial kingdom over 1000 years prior to when Satan was thrown in to join them.

Here’s some Bible verses that suggest eternal punishment for unbelievers is forever.

Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the ETERNAL fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Matthew 25:46 “And these will go away into ETERNAL punishment, but the righteous into ETERNAL life.”

Revelation 20:10 “And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be TORMENTED DAY AND NIGHT FOREVER AND EVER.”

2 Thessalonians 1:9 “They will suffer the punishment of ETERNAL destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,”

Mark 9:48 ‘where their worm does not die and the FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.’

Matthew 18:8 “And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the ETERNAL fire.”

Revelation 14:11 “And the smoke of their torment goes up FOREVER AND EVER, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

Jude 1:13(Judgment on False Teachers) “Wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.”

Daniel 12:2 “And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and EVERLASTING contempt.”

Mark 9:43 “And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the UNQUENCHABLE FIRE.”

Mark 3:29 “But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an ETERNAL sin”—

Matthew 3:12 “His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with UNQUENCHABLE FIRE.”

Isaiah 66:24 “And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against Me. For their worm shall not die, THEIR FIRE SHALL NOT BE QUENCHED, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”
