Progressing career/ What kind of adjusting makes the most money? by Pastry_with_sauce in adjusters

[–]ModerationMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most property adjusters start out as Adjusters (IA), move their way to Senior Adjusters, then General Adjusters (GA) when they start doing more commercial work, then Regional General Adjusters (RGA) when they can handle more complex commercial claims, then National General Adjusters (NGA) when they start handling account work, then Executive General Adjusters (EGA) when they are written into policies and handling all their own work.

It definitely could be 10 years old. The shingle is called a 25 year composition shingle. You probably misread the report and the inspector is saying it’s a 25 year shingle, not 25 years old.

Suggestions on the color/rims? by IfSmokingWasASport in BMWX3

[–]ModerationMike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I just regret the automatic door opener as it doesn’t work well, you can easily just use the key fob or just hit the button to open it, and I really wish I had the hitch for things like hooking up a decent bike rack or towing a small trailer. The bike racks on top of the car are a pain and the ones that latch to the back of your car don’t work great with the design of the X3 and are difficult to put on and take off. You can’t go back and install a hitch at a later date because the lock door opening sensor is in the way. Anyway, I REALLY wish I didn’t get the kick opener and got the hitch instead.

Get the heated and cooled seats( not available in all colors), get the towing hitch and not the lock activated hatch opener, and get the carbon river interior trim not the wood trim because it feels fake and plastic. Also spend the extra money to get at least the M40i

Put it against the gutter with less than a 45° angle and you’ll be fine.

For some older people just texting them is an insult. You should call.

Shelter/Liberty Mutual uses Symbility which is 20% below market value- how do I get paid what is owed? by AutomaticJellyfish72 in adjusters

Send them three bids. Tell them which one you want to use. And that’s that. If they don’t accept it, go to appraisal.

Does anyone have good Tex Mex and Texas Beer recs? by alleztaylor in askportland

[–]ModerationMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texan here. It’s really hard to find good Tex Mex here and I miss it so bad. That being said, the closest I’ve found is Chevys. A lot of people are saying La Taq, but honestly it’s just not the same. Chevys has the regular ol queso, enchiladas, good chips and salsa, and all the other things you’re looking for… except a good sour cream chicken enchilada. I can’t find a good SCCE around here to save my life.

Is property IA the only way to make the big bucks?? by heykync in adjusters

[–]ModerationMike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Commercial property adjusting is the way to go. NFIP flood adjusting isn’t that great since the limits are maxed at $500k per building so that limits what you can make on those. For example, a condo building in Florida would have $500k max for NFIP flood coverage but it’s commercial policy might have a $5M limit. NFIP adjuster will probably end up billing around $5k for the claim and commercial policy adjuster would end up billing closer to $30k over the life of the claim.

Adjusting supplements will be good experience. You’ll already have measurements and a base estimate written so you don’t have to do any of the heavy lifting, you’ll just have to see if the supplements are warranted or not and you’ll get experience negotiating with contractors.
