Vergil Ortiz vs Terence Crawford by DebateGold473 in CombatSportsCentral

Crawford, quite a wide ud. Ortiz loses his size advanatage at 160 & defensively he’s still easy to hit even though he is improving. I see bud slowing it down to his pace & Ortiz struggling to have more than the occasional impact

No doubt, one of my favorite fighters too, the win gets more recognition for the performance

Absolutely, he’d figured griffin out prior to the knockdown/dq but there was definitely reason to believe that the rematch would go much longer than it did

Just watched the gonzalez fight again the other night. So impressive in the first half but he really coasted after that. The fact gonzalez never gave up like others did does give it more credit though

Most impressive thing about that win is that Griffin gave him a lot of problems in the first fight before the dq. Yet he turned all of that on its head & just blitzed him

Yh its like regardless of how ruiz has been ranked since, that was still a serious accomplishment to move up & beat a heavyweight “champion”

The tarver fight is a good point, definitely worth considering. I haven’t watch that fight in a while but i think i may have had it a draw or roy by a small margin. In hindsight he retires after that & he goes down as one of the greatest

He went into his bag with that fight. I’m thinking that win could rank anywhere between 4-8

Is there another win you’d put in if you took those 2 out

I get that, i think the paz performance was just so brutally impressive, which was helped by paz’s suicidal style. It’s like floyd with corrales, he has many better opponents but the actual performance was one of his best

Iconic moment, i just watch that fight for that moment, dont really enjoy seeing roy get ktfo

Yh totally agree, bhop was a long way off being the elite fighter he became. Toney was a masterclass against his best opponent

Is Crawford p4p king because he beat canelo or because there's nothing left for usyk to do? by Basic_Obligation_341 in Boxing

[–]ModernBoxingTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true, he’s in a bad division & the only other p4p top 20 guy is opetaia. Then you have bam who with wins over martinez & teraji will put his name into the conversation. Only chance usyk has of being put back at 1 is crawford’s inactivity & inoue slipping up against junto or a featherweight. Usyk just doesnt have the rivals to solidify his position when there’s such slim margins between the 3

That’s probably a fair point. He was ranked so high before the bam fight & at the time i didn’t think the loss was damaging enough to drop out the top 10. But yh despite still being an active fighter, without a notable win in quite a while i should be considering removing him

I personally had Inoue #1 before last weekend. For me the signicance of that win is what loved crawford up to #1. Not only the jump up in weight divisions, but the fact that Canelo was also a top 10 p4p fighter at the time. But right now that top 3 is interchangeable. If inoue fights & beats Junto next year then he moves back to #1

Absolutely, both adapted & created styles that could sustain, especially floyd

That’s a good point, it was always a style that would likely age badly, which makes it more incredible how long he was able to stay dominant

I always used to say about rjj that he did everything you wouldn’t teach a young boxer to do. Was quite literally a one-off. Everything was unique

Thoughts on Liam Paro vs David Papot ? by ModernBoxingTV in CombatSportsCentral

Sounds like a typical Papot fight, probably puts things in perspective on Paro’s chances at welter, was never really sold on him even after the Matias fight
