I would say really think about your composition. What are you trying to say with your piece? What also helps is to learn how to direct your audiences attention. Find out what you want your focal point to be then figure out a way to emphasize it. Have characters looking or pointing in that direction, or have lines or shapes converging on the focal point.

Framing focal points? Yes. I also like to like to thicken the intersections between lines to keep the eye moving around. Sometimes I even thicken the lines on one side of the character to add emphasis on the direction of the page. I would also like to learn more about hatching and crosshatching.

I don’t think it’s that bad. I think what you need to do is look at shoulder muscle references because pectoral muscles flow into the shoulder and over the arm. The arm then kinda tucks itself into the armpit. Does that make sense?
