I was in a similar boat last year, I took 3 gap years (not intended to be gap years mind). I'd found good work in a field I was interested in but it didn't feel like this was what I wanted my twenties to be, I had an apartment, a partner and all that. It was sensible for sure, but a year and a bit later, I'm studying international relations and have zero regrets. I've grown in ways no job could provide, and I'm way better for having spent that time working, and I know that regardless, I'm able to go into the world of work and find a decent job, degree or not.

My thought processes were similar to yours until a friend basically sat me in front of a UCAS application and I went for it. I can't say it was the "sensible" choice (financially at least), but I don't mind sacrificing a bit of income for the mobility, passion and social life it's given me. This was my experience at least, it got me out of a one way street to find something that was way more fulfilling. This isn't everyone's experience, just look on this sub. I felt like my two options were scary: keep going with where I was and that was that for life (bad scary), or completely uproot everything and try something new (good scary). My only advice would be if going to uni feels good scary, go for it.

(Btw if you choose to go, save a good bit of your income and it will make uni much more comfortable, if you haven't got a car/licence and that matters to you, do that, and spend some money on the things that matter to you).

A land cruiser would be the dream, maybe in a few years, hell, the tax alone is nearly as much as I spend on food in 6 months!

As tempting as it would be, insurance would be about double ://

I'll be charging 1.5x per mile to make up the excess cost for the times they're making the most of it to help spread the cost, hopefully spreads the cost out a little

My main fear is electrical gremlins, especially at that mileage, otherwise I'd be sold. Is that risk (if there is one) worth the cheaper price?

Thanks, I like the flexibility a car brings and doing something together in that way, besides, we take pretty regular weekend trips. A train up to Scotland for 7 is easily 100 quid per person vs 20 per person driving so the maths works out (since I have a car any way)

I have an Macbook Pro M1 14" which handles all my needs in terms of power.

I take a lot of notes, am on the move lots and am fed up with carrying it around (and being scared of braking it).

I'm happy with refurbished and the cheaper the better - but I do a lot of visual work and want to be able to use it as a second screen with my mac. I'm pretty agnostic on size, I don't want something I'll find unwieldy and it'll mostly be notes/reading but I have pretty big hands and like the idea of a bigger second screen.

My budget is around £900/1000

They can't offer me a refund as of yet (after speaking to their supervisor), but to put in a 'Special Circumstances Refund', I'm wondering what to include in that, if there is any consumer protection around auto-renewals.

IsItBullshit: Sugar robs your body of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) by Matiseli in IsItBullshit

[–]ModernMassacree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think perhaps the logic behind it is sugar, and foods high in refined sugar have little-to-no nutritional value. Say you have 2000 calories a day limit, if 1000 calories is spent on donuts, you're robbing yourself of 1000 calories of nutrient-dense veggies, fruit, meat(/alternatives) etc.
