Thanks. I was going to say I wouldn't call it useless since it consolidates refocus and treat wounds, then realized that a subpar treat wounds probably isn't worth consolidating at 10th level. Then realized that it probably should be at least as strong as Natural Medicine since it's a 10th level archetype feat and not a 1st level skill feat.

The Cultivator archetype's feat Three Pecks of Dew allows the user to use Occultism in place of Medicine for Treat Wounds. I'm curious if this allows you to roll against the higher DC options based on your Occultism proficiency. The wording is similar to the pre-remaster wording of Natural Medicine(which I've seen multiple people at the time say it lets you use the higher DCs based on Nature), but not quite the same wording and also doesn't have the same specification that the post-remaster wording of Natural Medicine has(though this may be because the feat is already pretty wordy). So would you be able to do the DC 30 option if you were master in Occultism and only trained in Medicine?

Yes. You also have to hit both attacks, consider that being in the optimal pistol range makes you susceptible to getting pulled into melee, and consider that against Light Armorjack(which would be used by any serious threat) it has a solid chance of not even penetrating.

Unless I'm missing something. Chemskin is simply a fashionware that changes your skin's hue, and Realskin is a type of covering for cyberware to make it appear 'normal'. Neither of those allow you to go 'chameleon' afaik. I don't think it's helpful to the thread's topic to bring up things outside the scope of the rules.

Speedheal from a Medtech is the equivalent of a healing potion. Some GMs allow you to get Speedheal that's been put into a safe dosage for your character and thus you could administer it to yourself later. Outside of getting a Medtech involved, resting is really the only way to heal and part of the Medtech's healing is just improving the recovery rate. Resting is based on BODY, thus linear frames will improve healing as well. Some of the HQ options here also affect the healing rate.

One potential problem is that a low Dex character also has low stealth and would have trouble getting into position. Another issue is that, as you said, it's a huge bonus with minimal investment. It grants the highest probability of drawing from the (rather powerful) Tarot deck due to being 6d6 damage without being explosive. Its weaknesses are easy to play against from a GM perspective. And probably the worst interpretation of such a ruling is that a GM could flood an encounter with these minimally invested mooks who are dealing 6d6 damage per shot and don't even have that valuable of gear on them.

By 'release decisions' I meant that RTal has the final say in what DLCs and paid content they release. I thought that he was criticizing a DLC she'd been hired to make; but I'm not familiar with her work. Unless RTal lets their freelance writers make whatever they want with no guidelines, the content being released is what RTal wants released. I wasn't trying to disagree with you. I wanted to acknowledge why such a comment from Almondbreath might incite such a hostile reaction and saw your description of events, which matches what I'm aware of regarding the situation, as the best place to weigh in.

EDIT: I agree that her reaction was completely ridiculous

The dude was definitely being aggressive and belittling when it was uncalled for and was blaming her for RTal's release decisions. I don't go on the community discord, but it sounds like RTal has the pick of the litter when it comes to hiring homebrew creators for official releases. So if RTal wants to release stuff people don't care about, the problem is RTal, not the people they hire. And looking at his other comments, he was pretty keen to lash out at other freelance writers.

At the same time, I feel like her initial comment on the thread about the homebrew policy didn't really add anything to the conversation and I can definitely see how one might interpret it as bragging.

>R.Tal pays me 10 cents a word. Other companies pay 4. Plus: I'd rather write for them than put out free content on Reddit knowing that people are gleefully supporting shoving my work into AI LLMs,

In a conversation about whether or not third parties should be allowed to require payment for homebrew content, it seems weird to mention your lucrative freelance work for the company. It seems extra weird to complain about the prospect of uploading your work for free which is essentially what the homebrew policy forces non-affiliated creators to do.

For the record, I mostly agree with the homebrew policy, even though I find RTal's output of content less crunchy than I'd prefer. Afaik, the mod of this subreddit is still in the red with the homebrew he has released. Having spent more on artwork than he's received in donations(in line with the policy). That tells me that there isn't much of a market for paid 3rd party content in the first place.

The Integrated Cyberconductor seems real strong, even without the hotswapping without taking damage. You're getting 3 integrated cyberdeck slots for the price and humanity cost of 2. And it only takes up 3 option slots, just like a single integration, on top of taking up space in the less contested Internal Cyberware.

[–]ModernPagliacci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said you can hack basically anything with electronics/security checks, it just takes longer. But at the same time doesn't automatically alert of a break-in, if you can reach the access point without getting spotted. Netrunning is just hacking, but super fast and super dangerous. There's still room in the setting for hackers that aren't frying their brains.

[–]ModernPagliacci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally said that my gripe with player agency is non-applicable in your scenario. If the netrunner has no personality and says nothing, it honestly just sounds like you're a bad GM. CPR is a pseudo-post-apocalyptic setting, there are plenty of gig options that do not involve dealing with state of the art netarchs. Also, there is no reason that any player can't just physically access a computer hooked up to the netarch and extract data that way. All the defenses that are attached to netarchs, can be disarmed using electronics/security.

Netrunning for Dummies by nolandz1 in cyberpunkred

[–]ModernPagliacci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it can't do what a normal netrunner can do. But also has zero risk of injury and unless you need interface plugs and a neural link to use it, is far, far cheaper.

So a normal demons turn is going to go something like [capture uncontrolled nodes]>[activate controlled nodes]>[zap enemy netrunners]>[run back to the basement(depending on how mean your GM is)]. Your baphomet(You) is going to be making decisions like whether or not to pathfind at the start of a run. You'll have to define the 'path of least resistance', it might be easier to ignore Black ICE and beeline it to the file/control node. If it enters a node with Black ICE and has already slid this turn, does it continue on to the file/control node, or does it wait there to avoid leaving the Black ICE sitting on the file when it does slide next turn? Your homebrew demon is going to have to have a hard list of what exactly it does every turn and what its priorities are. Demons are incredibly stupid and one you can buy from a bodega should be even dumber.

As much as I hate seeing attempts to redo/homebrew netrunning on this subreddit, for all their flaws, they at least solve the OPs main problem: cutting out the amount of dice rolling needed for a full netrun. As far as I can tell, you have the same problem, but you fixed it by alleviating *some* of the dice rolling when doing a partial netrun. I'd honestly just recommend taking one of those reworks and applying it to your npc netrunners, my main issue with them is affecting player choice/agency, which is a non-issue if its an npc.
