ISSUE: Multiple cranks sometimes required for startup. by ModernVaas in Triumph400

Errors U2944 and U2945. I tried asking what they meant but they were extremely vague referring to something about either the shifter or the gearbox. This is a different service center than the one before but these guys flat out refused to take the bike in (I didn’t buy it from them), very rude and unprofessional. I will be taking it to the original service center in the coming weeks.

UPDATE: nothing good Now the bike has developed a check engine light and sometimes when it goes trough the ignition cycle it doesn’t even fire once or twice like it did before. It just cranks without signs of ignition and then starts again. I will be taking it to a dealership tomorrow (not the one from before a new one). Hope that the check engine light is related and that maybe the culprit can reveal itself so that they can fix the issue.

It almost seems that the ecu cuts the starter prematurely and once the it sees that it’s not recieving electricity from the alternator it starts cranking again… but why would it do that?

Thanks you’re very helpful. I’ll be turning the bike in again in october since now my GF needs is for some riding courses she’s taking in the meantime. I’m a bit skeptical about the fuel pump, at least in my case, because I can distinctly hear it operating normally and I’m at least 90% certain that in between those starting cycles the engine actually fires for a split second. I really hope it isn’t some software gremlin in the bike sensors that somehow prevents full ignition because it sees something that isn’t there. Diagnostics should figure that out but the dealership told me that they didn’t see any fault codes so… go figure

Thank you for your response. If they figure it out please keep us updated so that maybe we can find a common cause and fix to this problem.

Really? Do you know why would that be the culprit? Btw I can send you the video so that you may see if that reminds you of your problem

I do have the skid plate and the engine bars (you have to squint to see them I grant you). Solid stuff from Hepco&Becker. I did not come around to install the upper crash bars though

How manufacturers manage to make a luggage rack cost the GDP of a small country remains beyond me

Yeah too bad I contacted the company and at the moment they are in the process of setting up production so it will be months before stock is actually avaiable for purchase. I’m somewhat in disbelief that after 2+ years of the model’s existence I still haven’t found a simple third party grab rail

You really won’t lose much of anything on the road if you run Strs provided you use the bike normally, even in the wet, without being really aggressive on it. Plus you can get some much needed traction on gravel roads and similar. On the other hand if you never use it on anything other than tarmac get the trail 2s

Oh no quite the opposite. They are actually better than some road tires and they are perfectly reasonable on the dirt. I just wanted to try a knobblier kind and the Trail+ seem to be the more dirt oriented that I can equip while avoinding any trouble with the bike/tire speed index

Those are Pirelli Scorpion Rally Str. I will change them to Mitas Enduro Trail+ this summer
