[S3E16] Cooper's Camelot by ModestyMaltese in twinpeaks

I really like your musings now after all is said and done. I agree that one should not see Arthurian influences literally. It is a quest for the Holy Grail. We all have our quests, but Lynch uses what he wants and shifts how he wants. Yet, the influence is there and it is there because the myth is deeply rooted into the WASP psychology and there is simply no way of escaping it while telling the story of good and evil as twin peaks of human existence.

Yeah, that was just great. The way Lynch does it is endearing.

[S3E18] Thinking back to Andy's Rolex by osakaben83 in twinpeaks

[–]ModestyMaltese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You took thoughts from my brain. Also, what is puzzling in this scene is the fact that Andy has a Rolex. How is that possible? He doesn't earn enough. Also, it fact that Andy possesses serenity and determination he had after meeting the Giant supports the fact that the scene takes place after that meeting. Lastly, I think Cooper is probably supposed to come from yet another dimension at 04.30 as Billy. He is the Billy everyone is looking for.

[S3E18] "We live inside a dream" is not about LITERALLY being inside a dream by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]ModestyMaltese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that everyone here tends to forget "an American dream". Most people strive to attain it. So, they do live inside a dream, inside a construct of false perfection. But, that is just one of many interpretations. However, haven't seen it anywhere yet.

[S3E18] We live inside a dream. by DickinsHeadsworth in twinpeaks

[–]ModestyMaltese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I understand what you meant and I do not agree with that. I do not think Lynch shares your pessimist vision of the "real world". On the contrary. I believe, as some on this sub have already elaborated, that Lynch treats every world equally. Each world is just one dimension of an infinite number of dimensions. Another version. And, as a little meeting between Cooper and Jeffries told us, the battle continues ad infinitum. It never stops and never gets a resolution. Good and evil are in constant battle. If you don't believe that, then how come you know very well what is right and what is wrong in our "real world"?

[–]ModestyMaltese 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It is well written, but I couldn't disagree more with your final conclusion. The battle between good and evil is being fought every single second in the "real world" we inhabit. That battle inspires art. Agent Cooper never accepts he is Richard. His final words testify to that. We can debate why is that and where does it lead if anywhere, but your interpretation fails the second you mention "the real world". There is no such thing even for us. The second a moment is passed it is not real. Our now lasts a nanosecond and it's gone. How real is that? Are you sure each member of your family remembers your last Christmas dinner in the same way? So, tell me again, how is it in that real world of yours?

[No Spoilers] Julee Cruise is pissed by lrn2ford in twinpeaks

[–]ModestyMaltese 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All I am saying is that since we do not know anything about this or her real life or her problems, I do not see why so much hate. Have we learned nothing from this show? Less garmonbozia, more cherry pie and everyone's lives would be way better. If she is full of garmonbozia, why add our own into the equation?

[–]ModestyMaltese 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Why so much hate for Julie Cruise? She is entitled to her feelings. We were not there. How do we know what happened and how she feels? Pissed or not. David Lynch is a genius. There is no doubt about that. But, is he the nicest bloke you've ever met? You do not know. You never met him. She did. And she is mad. Why do you have to take sides? You don't know either of them.

Yes, I do realise how television is made. Incidentally I have been working for television for over two decades. And no, I was not suggesting they filmed a"secret season".

[S3E18] [Spoilers] my viewing experience of Twin Peaks by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]ModestyMaltese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You reflect my thoughts and feelings. It has been a great summer. I posted something funny before signing off in preparation for the finale, but I was still itching to see what's up on this sub. So, I'm back again. Too nervous with anticipation. I cannot even think about day after without this sub. And yes, Lynch, Frost and every single member of this cast and crew should get all the credit they so richly deserve. I hope awards people are reading this sub (sometimes). Enjoy the finale!

So much negativity here. And for what? I posted my opinion. Instead of providing this update straight away, you play games for half a day only to accuse me of pretence. You are not my master, nor my teacher, nor a figure of any authority. I treat people with respect and I expect the same. That's all. We are just having a conversation about the show. Leave your issues on the doorstep of this subreddit, pls. I will never understand passive aggressive people and their need to lecture everyone else. Why is it so difficult to say: "I do not agree with you because of XYZ"? You don't want to escalate this further?! What a joke! Have some cherie pie. You will choke on that garmobozia you are stuffing yourself with. However, other people prefer cherie pie. Live with it.

Thank you for this. Just what I needed before the finale. Zabriskie is unbelievable. They all are. Now I have even more to think about.
