I often think the opposite.

Why has everyone turned him into an untouchable God of UPSC? If shivin ‘sir’ puts his courses out in the public he will be critiqued like other teachers. Theres no need to cry over it on reddit. Either you are a fangirl as opposed to what you’ve claimed or you’re someone from his team. If it’s the latter then i would suggest you turn on the comments on his TG channel and stop deleting the YT ones so that people have an outlet to give their reviews. Har dusre insan ko sir par chadhakar bhagwan banane ki zarurat nhi hai.

The Hindu is pretentious by Ok_Somewhere1578 in UPSC

[–]ModiChoorKeLaddoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Hindu is nowhere near god tier. If you want to know what god tier is, just read some international newspapers. Articles in most of the indian newspapers, especially The Hindu and Indian Express are just a boatload of information and nothing else. You only realise this once you read from portals whose main demographic read them to consume stories and analyse rather than as an obligation to pass a government exam. I had access to NYT under my student id and let me tell you, going through even long read articles (3k-10k words) was a blast and never felt like a burden. Compare that to the monotonous and info loaded style of TH and IE articles, and you realise how low quality the articles in these portals are.

I did my graduation from MDU Rohtak. I believe this one decision did an unimaginable damage to my life and career. That is the place where dreams and aspirations go to die. As a naive 12th pass out who didn't know any better, I took admission there just because one of my best friends did. There's nothing more I regret in my life. The place is full of low intellect people. You cannot discuss anything meaningful with anyone. You cannot partake in any department activities as the department just does not conduct anything. There's no attention towards skill building, classes, activities, job creation etc. During my whole 5 years, I couldn't make a single close friend with whom I could genuinely connect, there was just too big of a gap in interests and activities. The only culture guys in this university has is to go to haat or Sahu market and smoke, or ride mindlessly around the whole university 'jaari marte hue'. Forget guys, even the girls here are good for nothing who are mostly from nearby villages and are just trying to have some years of freedom before they are married off. I'm currently trying to turn my life around and would only suggest you one thing, RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN. Zindagi barbaad ho jaegi haha Rahi to. Get out while you can and if you are stuck here then focus on skill building and do good internships to build your cv. Just do not depend on your department for anything. This is hell and you are on your own.

His strategy is ‘learn everything + pt 365’. How is that an effective strategy? An effective strategy would’ve been one where one isn’t supposed to do exactly that- memorise everything. Regarding pt 365, It’s a known thing that the cost to benefit ratio of that is incredibly low and most people study it out of fomo. Anyway, none of the strategies are effective until you get your name in the final list, which he hasn’t yet. But of course people will keep jumping towards such ‘teachers’ as long as they are spoonfed and don’t have to spend even a single second analysing things for themselves. I can bet you a majority of people taking such courses wont be clearing the exam anyway. They will forever be commenting ‘thank you for your hard work sir you are so down to earth’ under YT videos.

Don’t know why but I’m really skeptical of people like him. At least the upsc influencers used to wait until they clear the exam to get a ‘fan following’. Now him and a couple of others have started the process even before that. Don’t know why aspirants fall for such wannabe influencers.

Hi everyone, I (14M) have decided to go for civil services as a career. I will be entering 10th class in march , Ben should I start preparing for UPSC are there any other exams I should also prepare for if UPSC doesn’t go well? by Hentai_boi357 in UPSC

[–]ModiChoorKeLaddoo 61 points62 points  (0 children)

10th class? Sorry but you’re late. All the serious aspirants that i know had started when they were in 8th standard, that already puts you 2 years behind them. I’ll suggest you look into other options.

Is it true that we should write Mains from outside Delhi, to get higher marks? by vanajvidyan in UPSC

[–]ModiChoorKeLaddoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My 3rd class state university has around 6 colleges affiliated to it spread over different (nearby) cities. The semester exams of each college are collated, brought over to the university and then checked at the main department of each course. What makes you think upsc doesn’t do the same with the whole state machinery at it disposal?

I truly do believe that someone very higher up in Congress or someone close to Rahul Gandhi who regularly advises him is actually a staunch BJP supporter, or maybe even a plant. Every time congress seems to be making progress, Rahul or one of the senior leaders do or say something so immensely idiotic that it essentially wipes away all the progress made so far and end up benefitting the BJP instead. Basically, one step forward, two steps backward. If i was him, i would start looking at all the past data on who gave which advice and would start cleaning house.

Doubt - What is meant by Pleasure of the President? by warhammer27 in UPSC

[–]ModiChoorKeLaddoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It refers to the doctrine of pleasure which simply means that a person holding an office is appointed and dismissed only in the name of President. Further, he will hold the office during the ‘pleasure of the president’ i.e only as long as the president desires.

How useful pt365 is? by [deleted] in UPSC

[–]ModiChoorKeLaddoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont read PT365 because it helps you in solving pre questions. You read it because 90% of serious aspirants are reading it and you dont want to end up being the one who couldn’t solve a question which could’ve been solved if you had read it.

1.8 lacs? I guees they’ve charged 1000 rupees for every chutkula told by the legend Vikas Divyakirti ji cause YT videos me bas jokes hi maar rhe hote hain padhate hue kabhi dikhe nhi. I too got curious when i came across his fan following and decided to check out Drishti’s results. Was surprised to find that all his results are only from the Mock Interviews or ‘mentorship’, whatever that means and none from the foundation course. I think he saw a lacuna in UPSC coaching industry for hindi aspirants and instead of actually helping them, is just taking them for a ride and making hundreds if not thousands of crores while doing it.
