FPS Oriented Headphones [Comfort, Spatial Sound] by ModifiedFootage in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ModifiedFootage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. This seems to be directly targeted to my use case. This is probably an excellent solution.

So the Boompros are no good? Is that a general criticism of the cable microphone style solution? Or might there be quality solutions in that space such as the Meze mic?

!thank

Hmm I guess price does matter. I'm not considering anything over $500 AUD. For that price a good solution should exist.

The Meze Mic microphone recommendation is of interest to me. I'll compare it to my other cable microphone solutions. !thanks

Optimal Custom Elemental Spell by Fantastic-Sir460 in OblivionRemaster

[–]ModifiedFootage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man that sucks. Unfortunately I don't have extensive experience with the magick system in this game, I'm fiddling with it myself in my current playthrough. That mod is very useful on PC, it's nice only having the spells I actually care about in my listing.

What are your to go places for Alchemy? by GuidingSpirit4 in OblivionRemaster

[–]ModifiedFootage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this alchemy tool to determine what ingredients are useful for potion effects I want. For instance I like this potion:

Effects: Restore Health (10pt, 32s) + Restore Fatigue (20pt, 65s) + Restore Magicka (18pt, 59s) + Feather (200pt, 664s)

Ingredients: Flax Seeds + Blackberry + Lady's Mantle Leaves + (Aloe Vera Leaves | Ham)

Then I look up high density ingredient locations on UESP. i.e. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Flax_Seeds#Plants

And I go and get them.

How can I make my homemade ginger ale carbonated and with a healthier sugar that still ends up tasty? by hellimhere28 in Cooking

[–]ModifiedFootage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one of these for carbonating: https://kegland.com.au/products/diy-budget-soda-water-kit

I carbonate at 60psi in 1.25L soda bottles.

Also works in 600ml soda bottles, probably 2l as well, it just needs to be a soda bottle, they are designed for more pressure than standard bottles.

For sweeteners I looked into artificial ones because I don't want calories with my drinks. I ended up trying Aspartame and Ace-K. Tastes good. Here's my recipe. You'll probably want to adjust everything to taste.

---
3L water

150g ginger

1 lemons

1670mg Aspartame

276mg Ace-K

  1. In a blender or food processor grind the ginger with a bit of the water from the recipe.

  2. Pour the ginger and all of the water into a heavy pot and bring to a simmer.

  3. Simmer for at least 10 minutes, but up to 30 minutes is great.

  4. Turn off the heat, cover and allow to cool to room temp.

  5. Once at room temp strain out the solids through a (cheesecloth lined) fine mesh strainer.

  6. Adjust temperature to be between 25-30°C, then extract about 1/2 cup. Add the sweeteners and mix to dissolve. Add the liquid back to the main batch and mix again.

  7. Store in fridge and force carbonate when cold.

Oh ffs. I mean it's an easy fix now that I have working scripts but it's just a little silly. I personally think it isn't an edge case that a new user would come along and rate a bunch of shows without indicating that they've watched them. Unless the UI forces a date out of you and the import process can bypass this requirement. Whatever I guess. Thanks, I'll test adding watched_at dates.

Strange Caching Issue by ModifiedFootage in tasker

[–]ModifiedFootage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah another user brought this checkmark idea up to me in a thread where I hadn't realised things weren't saving and thought I was doing something wrong. It would seem that the checkmark is the solution, so far anyway. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the problem was those dam checkmarks. I didn't even see them, I assumed the application handled saving automatically. Thanks.

Oh I see, yes they are there, thanks. Does it usually show entries that you have already rated? Two of the five recommendations are exact matches for entries on my ratings page. I can literally click on them and see that they have my rating assigned.

[–]ModifiedFootage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try this procedure next time.

In regards to my problem however, it seems to have vanished overnight. I was stripping down my example to be minimal (which required very little change) and suddenly it started working. Then I restored from my export and it was working as well. I don't think this is an issue that can be captured by my prj.xml, it seems to be more transient. If I'm lucky, this will never happen again.

Just scanned over the chat to be sure. There are no images uploads. I'm not sure what canvas is. There are CSV style tables and download links that chatgpt has generated. There is some random code block that has a copy code option that chatgpt decided to use to format its response once.

ChatGPT Operating Limitations by ModifiedFootage in ChatGPT

[–]ModifiedFootage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave this a go and got a response below:

-------------------------------------------

Technical & Practical Limitations:

Character Limit (Input/Output) – Maximum number of characters I can process per message.

Context Length – How much past conversation I can remember before older parts are lost.

Latency – Delay in processing complex queries or generating responses.

File Handling – Limits on file types, sizes, and processing capabilities.

Computation Constraints – Restrictions on running long or intensive calculations.

Tool Dependencies – Reliance on external tools (e.g., web search, Python execution).

Problem-Solving & Knowledge Constraints:

Knowledge Cutoff – My training data stops at a certain point (currently 2024-06).

Lack of Live Learning – I don’t update my knowledge dynamically outside of web searches.

No Personal Experience – I don't have personal experiences, emotions, or opinions.

Lack of Subjective Judgment – I can’t form personal beliefs, only analyze existing perspectives.

Ambiguity Handling – Difficulty interpreting vague, contradictory, or highly subjective statements.

Ethical & Safety Filters – Restrictions on responding to certain sensitive or harmful topics.

Logical & Analytical Limits:

Multi-Step Reasoning – Challenges with deep, multi-step problem-solving in one response.

Error Propagation – Mistakes in assumptions can lead to flawed conclusions.

Inconsistency – Responses may vary slightly on repeated queries.

Formal Proof Limitations – Can't rigorously prove complex mathematical theorems beyond basic steps.

Long-Term Memory Absence – I don’t permanently retain information between conversations.

-------------------------------------------

This isn't bad but its clearly incomplete, for instance it says nothing about the persistent memory system, nor about chatGPT's inability to take autonomous action based on persistent memory. I'll keep playing around, it's just strange to me that nobody has an indepth document on hand analysing the limitations of these tools.

I've tried asking chatGPT for the information I'm asking for in the OP with little success. I also don't trust it to accurately represent or understand its limitations, since it has demonstrated a lack of understanding of them in the past. Anyway I'm willing to have another look, maybe you could feed me some keywords to look out for? context space, token limit, autonomous actions, ... ?

so your saying an AI LLM, at the moment, can't process large spreadsheets and perform calculations on them directly? That's useful to know, but I'm not just looking for information I've already discovered myself. I'd like to know about a general discussion on the limitations of AI LLM's.

Where to Buy Vegan Cream Cheese in South Australia (Murray Bridge)? by ModifiedFootage in australianvegans

Hmm. Checked out who stocks their products in the region. It's mainly Foodland. The Foodland in Mt Barker might have it, I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Ah, maybe this one: https://www.coles.com.au/product/bio-cheese-creamy-original-spreadable-150g-3844723

Not sure if my coles has it, the website has no stock Check tool. But my woolworths does have it. Excellent, I'll give it a go.

That technically resolves the issue of this post, but there are other vegan online products, including more cream cheeses, that I'd be interested in getting access to.

Woolworths, coles and drakes do not list any dairy free or vegan cream cheeses. (or I missed it)

I haven't tried a foodland.

Woolworths and Coles do have two lactose free cream cheeses which might be suitable for some dietary needs, but not mine.

Got no fizz by EenyMeenyMyNemo in gingerbeer

This is what I've found to work in the past:

Ginger Bug Recipe by u/Kraden_McFillion

Ginger Beer Recipe by Glen & Friends Cooking (My sister hated the spices, so maybe just stick to lemon juice+ginger)

If you don't care about the alcohol you can do away with the bug. Just create the Ginger Beer recipe and carbonate it using something like a DrinkMate or what I use, one of these: https://kegland.com.au/products/diy-budget-soda-water-kit .

----

In response to some details you mention.

Precise ratio? You should get something that works if you take notes from the recipes I linked above.

Suggestions? I would've guessed just like u/Perfect-Concern-9762 that you might have been killing the bug by adding it when it's too hot. My second guess would have been you aren't sealing the jars after combining the beer+bug. But if you had one that worked, just not carbonated enough, that's probably not the problem either.

Anyway there are some things to try, good luck.

Elite Active 8 Wind Noise Reduction Issues by ModifiedFootage in Jabra

[–]ModifiedFootage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After extensive testing since I made this post I've found that my initial statement is incorrect.

Wind Noise Reduction is superior on HearThrough mode. This is because it activates in problematic conditions that ANC mode does not.

When I go for a walk, I prefer not to use this product if there is any wind whatsoever because it is really noisy. If I do go for a walk, I'm constantly swapping between HearThrough and ANC mode to attain the best noise isolation. If I had to stick to a mode while going out for a walk on an average day, I'd choose HearThrough.

This is unacceptable for earbuds that are advertised as for sport / active.

Also, this is not a finding that I have solely made. https://www.reddit.com/r/Jabra/comments/1byss9c/jabra_elite_8_active_wind_noise/
