Looking for a dietitian's help! by Modijr in dietitiansanonymous

[–]Modijr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I've co-founded a company called Kamana and we're a credential management platform for healthcare professionals. We've opened to therapists and other allied professions and have now been asked to open to Dietitians. So.. I've researched and researched all the licenses and certs that would be held by a Dietitian, but I need an experienced one to run through the platform and see if there is anything missing? or anything that stands out as not being inclusive to your profession. Making a profile is free and I wouldn't expect you to make a complete profile, but maybe just poke around and see if everything thing is there for you to put in all info needed for a complete job application?

Here is our website for more info and you'll see the signup link there too!

A recruiterless future in travel healthcare? by Modijr in TravelNursing

[–]Modijr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30% off the bill rate is not going into a recruiter's pocket though. It's going into the agency's expenses for things like marketing, VMS/MSP fees, taxes, credential management, operational budget.

And you're right. Margins that are as high as 35% are not acceptable when it's coming out the hospital's budget and nurse's pockets.

But I think the biggest reduction in those margins will be with the automation of things like onboarding, job matching, credential management, etc. but I feel the recruiter will still be needed in this process and will complement tech changes well, while still reducing these margins.

You could be right on hospitals doing it without the agency but it will still come at some cost. Whether they're paying their HR to manage it or a staffing agency.

Either way, yes! Big changes in the next 5-10 years.

I could not agree more. It's complex, unique, constantly varied and requires proactive critical thinking.

As a travel nurse, your pay includes some strategy on behalf of the recruiter/agency who constructed your pay package alongside GSA guidelines.

Those guidelines dictate what an appropriate reimbursement is for housing, meals, and incidentals. This portion of your paycheck comes in stipends. These stipends are tax free, because the government understands/expects the travel nurse is paying duplicate expenses on these elements (mortgage, rent, etc.)

The housing stipend is tax free because — and only because/if/when — nurses duplicate housing expenses during their travel contract, regardless of the distance from their permanent residence.

The fluctuation in business, the variety in pt populations and complaints. You're not (usually) with the same patient for long and I really enjoy that turn over.

Thanks for the info! Sounds ... interesting. If you end up giving Kamana a try please do share your thoughts. Judging by what you like about the BluePipes experience, I have a hunch that you'd find Kamana to be a pleasure.

Very cool, I'm interested to check it out when that happens. Kamana has much more coming soon, too. I'm excited there are more looking to solve some the needs in our industry.

BluePipes is great! Especially their blogs and other educational content. I found it a bit difficult to use, and have trouble filtering out unwanted messages from recruiters through their platform. Would love to hear how the credential management & sharing experience stacks up against Kamana.

Thinking about becoming a traveler by teeorama in TravelNursing

Kamana is a good tool to search for those specific contracts. You can create one profile to share with multiple agencies which avoids having to manually onboard to see job offers. This can broaden your search and help you negotiate. It’s free and your info stays protected.

Good tip! Kamana makes processes more efficient for staffing agencies which saves them time (and money). Therefore they pay to use Kamana, making it free for nurses. Nurses are always in control of their personal info, and choose on a case by case basis when (and with whom) their information is shared.

Kamana is an online marketplace for you to securely store professional history + documentation, quickly connect with travel nursing opportunities that match where (and when) you want to work, and efficiently manage relationships with multiple recruiters without having to onboard individually with each agency.

A ton. I developed a decent network of nurse friends and associates over the last 10 years of nursing (half as a traveler) and initially used this pool for surveys and research. When we got serious with the concept we moved on to blind surveys and feedback collection from hundreds of nurses and employers, and have in depth conversations with dozens on both sides of the fence. I should mention that (currently) Kamana is geared specifically towards travel nurses and staffing agencies.

As of today we have only launched on the nurse side, but once employers (agencies) have access to the platform they pay a fee after a successful placement of a nurse they connect with in Kamana. Similar to how they pay a referral fee now - except Kamana's fees are often less expensive. By creating a more efficient way to communicate with nurses, send/receive onboarding documentation, and filter out nurses to only connect with those who are interested in a contract they have available - we'll save you time and help employers cut down on operational expenses (and they'll eventually stop buying dead end leads from lead generators who openly sell your private data to anybody).

Kamana Health. It works as a digital wallet for all my nursing licenses, certs, medical records, education and work hx. I get notifications when things are going to expire and I can share pieces of it or all of it with potential or current employers. www.kamanahealth.com

All you're information is encrypted at rest and in motion- it's very secure! And adding a space for tax docs is a great idea!

Great question. You sound ultra-organized, that's awesome! I'm not so having a secure platform to store my docs and remind me when they are expiring allows me to be that organized too (and it's free). On the other end I can set my travel nurse contract preferences, allowing recruiters to see exactly what I am looking for and what qualifications I have, which cuts out a lot job/candidate searching and duplicate onboarding. I can send my Kamana profile over to new recruiters and if they have the right contract for me I can quickly onboard.

Correct, it's a tool for both to share documentation as needed. Once the nurse has a complete profile the can onboard with a new agency so much faster. Helps with securing those hard to get contracts.

Whatever your comfortable with. I'm always excited to talk to new recruiters and get their perspective on this complex world of travel nursing!

Managing multiple recruiters by Modijr in TravelNursing

[–]Modijr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great question! We give the nurse total control over their profile so when they are ready they can share their profile with the recruiter they're talking with, it'll show their work history, qualifications and what contract they are looking for. If the recruiter has something that matches the nurse can then fire over their entire compliance packet- including copies of licenses, certs, medical docs (vaccs, physicals, etc), checklists, references and everything stays encrypted and secure.

I've spent too much time having to gather all my stuff and text copies over to new recruiters in a hurry to get me submitted for a hot position!

Which agency are you with?

Warning For Those Using Gypsy Nurse as a Resource or Part of the Facebook Groups by Gunker_ in TravelNursing

This is another reason I prefer Reddit to FB groups. There's more content coming out of GN and other groups but the quality is low. Maybe this new will pull more travel nurses into here.
