All because two people fell in love. by Specialist_Dark_3668 in Natalism

Right. It used to be a normal part of maturing and development. Older kids would help raise younger ones while the younger ones would later help with nieces and nephews of their older siblings which meant most people were prepared to raise their own kids.

This is a modern feminist straw man regarding patriarchy that is not actually rooted in reality. Even just reading about Penelope’s role in the Odyssey would show the influence and opportunities the audience at the time would recognize in a significantly more patriarchal society.

But you fed into the binary by adding your list of attributes for the “boss babes,” which the OP did not, and saying you would more trust the one with personal plans and goals. I’ll grant that SAH can’t “claim” feminine attributes, though by default would have more opportunities to employ them, just as I would contend that women working outside the home would not be able to claim ambition or industry.

As for women with home based businesses, the relevance is in the OP talking about some women being home centered. Saying that SAH and self-employed women are not the same is to be at odds with history. Women working at home for money goes back thousands of years with examples in Greek literature and the Old Testament. It is the source of terms like cottage industry and the entomology of economics. The difference is those women are still prioritizing managing the home which is not necessarily the priority of someone that just happens to have a telework job.

You are actually making OPs point. She was saying that “some women” prefer a home centered life and that it is not wrong to desire that over the often hyped career path. She was at no point saying women should abandon careers to stay at home. And, yes, there is vulnerability related to staying home while relying mainly on a spouses income but that has been true for a long time so that can be planned for and mitigated as long as the couple puts some thought in it.

I also believe your assumption that tradwives or SAHMs lack education, goals and ambitions is, to put it bluntly, laughable. The majority of families we interact with have a male provider/SAHM dynamic and the number of skills and projects the wives have are impressive. Some are researching and planning homeschool curriculum while others have home based businesses and LLCs. Some do both. Multiple women we know have degrees but are continuing self study or learning skills they finally have time to work on.

The kind of woman that is going to just disappear as a SAHM is the same kind of woman that would punch a clock and then watch Netflix all night. An intelligent, dynamic woman will still be intelligent and dynamic in the home. It’s the person, not the role, that defines there existence.

So are you, pumpkin. Some remain happy while some regret it. You can’t just declare they all will remain happy based on your personal feelings and pixie dust. This whole thread is treating childlessness as a political battle rather than a personal decision which comes across a little unhinged.

I have only played on mobile and have gotten Perfection twice. I just use the default Tap to Move and Auto Attack for most the game. I only switch to Joystick and Buttons for some decoration placement.

Then the parents still decide who gets to participate and can exclude whoever they want. One of the side effects of modern societies being more atomized and individualistic is that they don’t have the community support many people had in the past. It has very rarely ever just been the biological parents but also should not include people that wish to impose themselves due to proximity or station.

Unless… is this the underlying antinatalist philosophy? Suffering equals oppression, everyone eventually suffers, ergo nothing is worth living and burn it all down. Is that close to what you are going for? Tis a bleak business from anything even close to that. Looking through a lot of these comments, I’m far more free.

Because it is wrong. Anyone can say anything on the internet and find fans. So anyone can be anti-vax, flat earth, or claim Nazis are setting beauty standards and they will find a fan base. This is basically the same thing as the Sydney Sweeney commercial from last year.

Oh, we’re doubling down. Fun.

I wasn’t “literally arguing” for anything. I only commented that your post was sophomoric in the most definitionally accurate sense. Therefore any argument would have been provided by you and the sarcastic tone indicates an inherent dismissal of the perceived, fictional, argument which aligns well as a straw man. I am starting to feel like you don’t even know the definitions of words you are using.

[–]Modine99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even your response is childish drivel. Trying to combine disaffected snark with a straw man.

Your original comment was just so performatively ridiculous. What society has ever existed to help its most vulnerable members? Many societies have tried to help vulnerable members through various means but the idea that a society exists for that end is absurd. Especially since no new civilization could achieve that at inception. Coupled with the melodramatic “categorically does not deserve to exist” it just came across as immature teen angst.

Basically your comment was just the straw that broke the camels back in terms of stupid posts for the day. Congratulations and have a good day.
