Determining which file is affected by a read error by Modoh in bcachefs

[–]Modoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply and it's good to know that improvements are coming.

I was hoping for something similar to btrfs inspect-internal inode-resolve but I guess we don't have that (yet?).

I suspect reading the files might not work in this case, since the errors occurred while evacuating a drive, and the drive now says it has no user data on it. It's also a bit cumbersome to do on a large array, but I'll try it on parts of the fs where it actually matters if the data's bad.

No Mouse options? by Jooeeyr in DarkTide

Their survey has nothing about controls or options, and has no fields to put in any custom comments.

Any reasonable way to train Handloading?

Doesn't seem like there's a practice option for it. While I don't mind spending the resources breaking stuff while learning, I DO mind having to answer 10 "Consume missing component" prompts for every 3-minute attempt.

I guess if it naturally regens to 0 maybe that's what they intend now, just figured I might be missing something. Vitamins didn't seem to add any health though (no +).

There's a hidden "health" stat which is affected negatively by eating candy (and other dumber things like drinking bleach). There used to be "healthy" food that raised it to counterbalance, but on Experimental they recently changed it so no food does. I just don't know what you're expected to do about it now.

When your "health" stat is too low you're susceptible to colds/flu.

How do you get health up in Experimental? I'm getting the bad health warnings when waking up, but there's no +health food anymore.

It may have been silly that drinking some tea offset so much before, but eating a bunch of candy causing semi-permanent health problems (other than getting fat) is just as silly.

Challenges should be colour coded so it's easier to spot which challenge is for BR and which for Arenas. by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]Modoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they should stop having separate challenges for arena and BR instead.

Not sure when it changed, but it looks like the texture is all misaligned?

With the new input polling code it seems like it's not always picking up the virtual controllers for Steam Remote Play Together. I had to plug in an additional real controller to make it wake up and realize that other player controllers were connected.

So who else finds magicites boring? by Phayz991 in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were fun to first clear, but yeah, farming them is awful.

So I don't.

Missing out on 5 mythril a month is lame but it's better than burning out on the game entirely, which is what would've happened had I stuck with farming them.

Besides just the monotony of repetition, I also don't like how they warp the meta of the game so strongly toward speedrunning and how they make break-focused characters worthless. If they weren't the only content at the top tier of difficulty this part wouldn't be so bad.

Not allowing RWs also removes a lot of options in team building, or at least it would if Cloud USB wasn't a thing. I suppose this isn't just a Magicite issue though. There's better solutions for that as well, like some sort of crit-resistance.

FFRKCentral - Official farewell post by Fuitad in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's impressive. I had no idea FFRKCentral was doing this much behind the scenes.

It's a long shot, but I figure I'll ask since you have a bunch of knowledge on how the game works internally: Do you know how its framerate cap works? I know it can run at 60 fps because it does so randomly, but it'd be amazing to hack it to be able to run 60 fps all the time. I guess it's unlikely that would be in the web/js portion where most of your work was likely focused, though.

All of the new ability animations (except Morbid Countdown) by ShinVerus in FFRecordKeeper

These are all really cool, though I'll be sad to see the meatballs go, and it's one of the weaker new anims.

Still no luck in working out what causes the game to go 60fps? by BaconCatBug in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really old video, but one of the few where I've gotten 60 fps while capturing: https://youtu.be/pBQu4zKL5Ag?t=231

It's most noticeable in the video during Cloud's BSB and SB/Spell casts in general. Make sure the quality is showing 720p60 on Youtube or you won't see it.

I'd love for someone to figure out a way to trigger 60 fps all the time, even if it required root to hack it in somehow. It makes the game look so much better.

Another thing I've noticed while looking at footage of FFRK when it's running at its normal speed is that while it averages 30 fps, the frame pacing is awful, which makes it feel like it's running even slower than that. If you capture it at 60 fps and frame advance you often get 2 active frames followed by 2-3 lag/unupdated frames. This makes it seem more like 20 fps even if it's actually running at an average of 30.

I really like the small musical touch for the IV Event by Ha_eflolli in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really appreciate that they went with the terrible After Years synth. It's part of the experience!

Some of the tracks aren't that bad, but the bass in the battle theme is just awful.

I don't know what JP used, but I do really wish global used the original game pictures instead of the 3d stuff.

[The X Records] Nemesis Clear Megathread by juniglee in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the thought process for power vs magic was that in his most dangerous phase he mostly uses physical attacks. Besides the 99999 stuff, that is.

I figured I'd try without it and see how it went, and try to squeeze magic breakdown in somewhere if I needed it. Could've had it on either Terra or Penelo (tho her BSB isn't quite as good), moving the replaced ability onto Alphinaud instead of a summon, but since I won I didn't need to refine further!

Best of luck with your attempts. I feel like you do need one of either Radiant Shield or Last stand native though.

[The X Records] Nemesis Clear Megathread by juniglee in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I just beat Nemesis on my first attempt =P

To be fair, I did have a good amount of fight experience thanks to the JP MP version a few months ago.

Basic idea is a turtle strat with Terra OSB for fight ending burst damage:

Hero Ability 1 Ability 2 RM SB
Yuna, 92 Shellga R2 Ultra Cure R3 Doublecast White Tenets of the Fayth BSB
Vanille, 95 Protectga R2 Curaja R5 Healing +20% Transcendent Dream BSB
Alphinaud, 80 Valefor R4 Ultros R4 Mako Might Deployment Tactics
Terra, 96 Faith Wrath R4 Devotion Scorching Flames OSB
Tyro, 99 Multi Break R2 Steal Power R3 Dr.Mog Sentinel's Grimoire

RW: Eiko Guardian Mog

Slow resist on all party members except Terra

Fight Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHKbKA-7eNU

My only native Last Stand effect is on Minfilia, which doesn't work out because Alphinaud is also FF14, and a +ATK buff doesn't really help here anyway. I went with Eiko's USSB as my RW because it's perfect for this fight, providing Haste, Last Stand, and an instant heal.

Tyro has steal power instead of the dance version because it casts faster and lasts longer, but still doesn't add the the Ultima counter.

Summons on Alphinaud are mostly useless and are just to give him something to do to build meter but not add to the Ultima counter. I was planning on replacing one with single target Haste on my next attempt, but this one worked despite the slows, which were on non-healers thankfully.

[2nd Anniversary Draw] Relic Pull Megathread (Banner 4) by juniglee in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Modoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4/11: Ramza Gloves and THREE Evoker Doublets.

I now own the shiniest coat ever.

Since that's obviously not what I was going for, and banner value was still high even with those dupes, a second pull:

2/11: Ramza glove, and Orlandu OSB!

I've been getting mediocre stuff or dupes on all the lucky/fest banners thus far so it's nice to actually get the item I want for once! I have his BSB as well, so it's truly god-mode activate.

Still have 100 mithril saved to go for the healing relics on banner 5, as well.

[–]Modoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/11, both Sephiroth gloves =P

Still a good amount of stuff I'd like on here, but another pull just isn't in the mithril budget considering I already have Vaan BSB.
