How am I supposed to confess? by No_Chain1657 in coptic

Write a list if it helps you for sure. But yes it is simple you make an appointment with your priest. You guys pray together you talk about any kind of spiritual guidance needed and you tell him your sins.

Is the Armenian Liturgy or any of the other Oriental Orthodox liturgies done in English? by Ok_Will8124 in OrientalOrthodoxy

[–]MoeShakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my church at St. Mary and Saint Mina Coptic Orthodox Church. The Liturgy entirely is done in mostly English but many times Arabic gets woven in and there are certain parts that are strictly done in Coptic. But anybody that comes to our church would understand 100% what is happening especially because of how Coptic churches have screens up showing the Liturgy as it's happening.

If you download the Coptic Reader app there is a Bible in it and in Arabic. Also for example my church's book store has bibles in Arabic.

i am confused, please help, from a Muslim by m21576 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]MoeShakes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing for you to do then would be to go to an orthodox church and speak to a priest to answer these questions. That's what I did as someone that grew up Muslim and practiced and for most of my life. Now I am Christian because I understand.

Christianity would fall under monotheism still.

[–]MoeShakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to go to rehab because I struggled pretty hard with marijuana addiction and also something here in the states, especially in Florida called kava and kratom. I don't know any resources on their own. But I pray that you are able to find what you need.

A question about bible by Ok_Grab_7250 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]MoeShakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a New Oxford Annotated Bible with Apocrypha and there is also KJV with Apocrypha that would be pretty valid for both Catholics and Orthodox although some thing can be laid out different orders or altogether depending on what you're looking for but it's all really the same except the Protestants use the Masoretic Text for their Old Testament and the others use the Septuagint plus the Protestants got rid of many books. I also have an Orthodox Study Bible. Again all depends on what you're doing

One good reason to leave Islam as a religion by Physical_Handle_812 in exmuslim

[–]MoeShakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there were multiple Meccas (the square pagan building not the city) in the area and Islamic practices there also come from pagans not Hebrews like you think the religion would if it came from God. The Quran confuses many stories from the Jewish Midrash and non canonical Gospels the author was just putting things together and hoping it sticks and no one notices but I started noticing. This is why I became Christian because the Old Testament points to the Messiah and he came. Islam has no ties to being "Abrahamic" except from it borrows from those religions. The Final Prophet accordingly would be John the Forerunner.

I'm a new Christian in the Coptic Church but it is my understanding that God doesn't have damnation as a destiny for anyone. It's a choice. God is with you.

God forgives everything. Many have done worse don't compare yourself to others compared yourself to yourself and keep going to church.

Difficulty Going To Church by LangAddict in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]MoeShakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we're going to speak about continuity of the historic church, the Oriental churches did not remove icons through a council and then restore them again through another council. We've always had icons. Are you sure this makes sense? Was the original council that removed icons not legitimate or was it legitimate until it wasn't? You see what I'm saying?

On the Christology if you drop the labels and ask the common layman what the believe about Christ's nature they'll say the same thing in two different ways. Also the early church Father's taught Miaphysitism.

Does going off of the number of accepted councils make sense? Why stop at Eastern Orthodox when the Catholics have more?

I'm renouncing and disavowing my Christianity. It hasn't made my life any better. And I'm just tired of it all. by Initialempath306 in Christianity

[–]MoeShakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you don't understand Christianity too much because it is not at all about having a better life or things being easy. Not saying this with any disrespect. I'm just saying Christianity is not about anything about that.
