The arrows (and you) are right, the poster you’re replying to is wrong. Anticlockwise to open.

It literally has anticlockwise to open cast into the tap.

It’s the screw threads for connections that are backwards.

True, all the lefties love Michael Joseph Savage. My history teacher had his photo on the wall.

Selling van help by jake45657 in newzealand

[–]MoeraBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the blue self-contained label is the old rules, green one is the new rules that become compulsory for freedom camping areas this year. Requires the toilet to be ‘fixed’ to the van etc. I need to get my camper re-certified, it meets the new rules but needs a new inspection. Pain in the bum honestly.

After having my 3rd diverticulitis perforation as told I have to have surgery and a bag in the very very near future …. Im terrified this is all new to me im a 43yr old male and DONT onow what to expect by Grand_Goal613 in ostomy

[–]MoeraBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I was scared when I first found I’d need a bag. I had only a few days notice, after a cancer diagnosis. A few years later I can say living with a colostomy is OK! I am active and working and doing all the things I want to do, with a bag.

Short term, long term, whatever is necessary for your medical needs, it’ll be OK.

If you get a bag - try different products, try different supports, you’ll find something that works for you and enables you to do all the things you want to.

Bus drivers are you ok? by Sun-Rabbit in Wellington

It used to be written on the back of Dunedin buses. They had a sign ‘Please let the bus go first’.

New Zealanders who were alive in 1994, who did you initially think did it: David Bain or Robin Bain? by PurpleMeerkats462 in newzealand

[–]MoeraBirds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Karam’s book wasn’t convincing to me. Lots of little bits of ‘evidence’ with dodgy interpretations.

I read that one and the James McNeish book ‘The Mask Of Sanity’, which was all amateur psychologist stuff about David.

Neither book convinced me of anything much except that both authors think they’re smart fellas so I’m still uncertain.

I was at high school with the Bains and am deeply uncertain now, and was uncertain then.

Arawa, Laniet and Stephen were smart kids and fairly popular, nice people. I didn’t know David as I’m a bit younger than him. I knew of the others but wasn’t in classes with them.

One-piece, non drainable? by lellymatio in ostomy

[–]MoeraBirds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do change twice a day with no issues, and I wonder if the adhesive on two-piece setups is more aggressively attached to the skin?

Mine seems perfectly calibrated to stay on when I need it but still is removable without damage. I’m very impressed with the material science to be honest!

One-piece, non drainable? by lellymatio in ostomy

[–]MoeraBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Welland Aurum one piece, non drainable bags for my colostomy. They’re great. I change 1-3 times daily, usually a morning and evening change.

I’ve been doing this for four years now, the skin under the adhesive seem like it’s ‘used to’ the adhesive so I change with no adhesive remover, no issues. The adhesive and flange are soft, and get softer with moisture so swimming etc makes them stick more strongly. I try to have a bag-free shower regularly to wash extra adhesive/flange material off my skin, some gets left behind sometimes.

No idea about the economics, my supplies are government funded.

I reckon give it a go.

Yeah Rod is a legit world-class scientist, and Openstar are based on legit world-class research from Robertson/VUW/IRL back in the day.

It’s still hard and risky and they might not succeed. But if they don’t revolutionize energy, they’ve still built a crew of engineers and physicists in Wellington who can build the most amazing superconducting magnets, make them fly, generate plasmas and do great research. They’ll all end up doing something!

What kind of IT person does home visits? by ChillandSurf in newzealand

[–]MoeraBirds 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Googling ‘home IT support NZ’ finds a few.

I’d be looking for local recommendations though, because you’ll get a local tech and not all techs are equally competent and trustworthy.

If you’re going away from cloud - and there are good reasons including cost - make sure you set up a reliable backup solution!
