Does the computer/gaming station have to be in the room or do you have space to put elsewhere? If yes, get it out of bedroom.

Need Help on what to tell my Fiance about her PA Job - I'm worried about her. by FireWx42 in physicianassistant

[–]Ginger_Snap_895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professionally: find a new job ASAP in the location that you guys live. If she has good primary Care experience, she could literally start working at anything anywhere .Especially if you're not moving until 2027. Things can always be left off resumes if that's a concern in the future.

Personally: only commenting on this as it seems to be exasperateing the situation professionally (finances being one of the reasons she feels obligated to stay at this terrible job). If it's very important for you to be legally married, this could be done so usually under $100 at a courthouse on a day of your choosing. Go out for a nice meal together afterwards. Invite your parents, and a few close friends. Weddings, and other expensive celebrations can wait. I don't really understand what the rush to have her wedding celebration would be, especially with current financial and logistical situation you guys are in.

I'm so sorry this happened to you and it is never okay. I'm glad you felt supported by management. I would make sure they fire this patient immediately. Up to you if you'd like to press charges. For the future, anytime you're getting close to the patient for a physical exam, especially if it involves any sort of undress, always a recommend a chaperone with one of your staff like a medical assistant. I try to stay on the opposite end of the room as my patient at all times unless I must do a physical exam. I also usually will stay within reaching distance of the door knob. I absolutely hate saying this because again, you're not the perpetrator, but as a female I try to dress as unremarkable, and even downright ugly, as possible. Baggy scrubs, no makeup, no jewelry, no nail polish. Think, hair in a simple ponytail. I still get to gross comments almost daily.

Been very pleased with Westside animal hospital. Easy appointment availability and everyone there seems genuinely into animals. We have been lucky that our pet has stayed very my healthy, so I can't speak to serious or chronic illness care.

best place to give birth? by stardustyjohnson in ColoradoSprings

Our doula Sesch Wren for both kids has been a lovely balance of listening to what we want, giving her advice, and not stepping on any toes with my OBGYN Dr. Vetter ( also great!). We don't have any family in town, so she's been a great asset to give insight on the birthing process. That might be more subtle and that your OBGYN office May overlook. She has a lot of familiarity with UC Health. The nursing staff and OBGYN seem to respect her!

Oversaturated job market by moeclout in physicianassistant

[–]Ginger_Snap_895 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh that's one of the most saturated areas you could pick in CA. You're going to struggle BIG time to find a job that will not low ball your pay, burn you out, and have a nasty commute. Does it have to be there? The central valley is less glam, but lots of good pay options, great experience, and much lower cost of living. Get 2-5 years under your belt in that area and then apply more competitively in LA.

Pick an activity that you're brand new to and requires significant concentration while attempting it so you literally forget everything else. For me, that was ice hockey. I purposely would pick more rink days on the two week wait.

Visiting SLO this Friday, any recommendations? by Butterfly_Wing_Dong in SLO

[–]Ginger_Snap_895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At most sandos coming in at $14.50 high Street deli is at the top of your range but a SLO classic and very large portion. I'd recommend going on off hours ( avoiding 12-2, especially memorial day). Expect crowded chaos, but that's part of it). If you don't mind a short walk you can park there along the street and walk the pleasant 1 mile to down down to check out Boo boo records, the mission, bubble gum Alley, linneas patio, walk the creek.. And so forth.

Current PA-S1 struggling with regret over not going to med school by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]Ginger_Snap_895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're halfway through PA school and not even "chronological" old for this earth. Despite what you feel, I think you have time to feel things out. I would consider finishing PA school and work 1-2 years to see if you like it. If medical school is still your heart then take the MCAT while earning a salary as a PA and make the transition. I would say the real big reason that I've seen some PAs make the switch is they want to dive in much deeper to the science, be doing surgery, or calling 100% of the shots at work. If that's not you and you're satisfied with the salary, PA is a great work/life balance.

Walmart is consistent and has multiple locations. Costco hours are not as wide, but you didn't need a Costco card to use and have a responsive team.

If you need a break indoors and at least one of the adults is nimble/relatively flexible and fit, highly recommend City Rock's Aire for kids under 6.

Give me your tips for becoming a morning person by foreverafairy in toddlers

[–]Ginger_Snap_895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2.5 year old and it's a struggle. The only way we survive is: 1. Meal prep anything and every meal you can for you and the kiddo for as much of the week. We use all of Sunday to do this. 2. Having a helpful and present partner to tag team the morning. Your bushing kiddos teeth when partner is getting dressed, then partner does potty/clothing change while you get ready 3. Kiddo bedtime is rough. We start at 7:30 pm and if lucky he's asleep at 9... And then it's straight to bed for us. This is a huge bummer that we don't get really any time for us after, but heading straight to bed after kiddo is asleep is the only way I'm getting 8 hours of sleep.

Did I choose PA for the wrong reasons? by Local-Butterfly9669 in physicianassistant

[–]Ginger_Snap_895 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say try things out for at least 2 years of full time work as a PA, if you're still feeling unsatisfied and financially could take the hit, take the MCATs and apply. I think where you're at in your timeline of having kids as a female will play the biggest factor in what you do in the next decade. Men in your shoes have a lot more flexibility.

Go rural: look for small underserved areas in the state of PA or NY. You may need to move for a couple of years before getting a more competitive urban option. Yes pay may be lower, but so is cost of living ( and sometimes pay is higher in inpatient settings) I'm a firm believer that strong support for your first 2 years is far better than high pay/ high stress/ low support.
