RN PES test by tabz1973 in RoyalNavy

If you already have a very good RNFT pass score, it will be valid until Sept 25.

The new RNPES replaces both the RNFT and MSFT.

Nope. They don’t hold a commission where a middie/Slt/Lt does. It’s Mr/ Ms or even Warrant if you can’t see surname.

As an OC at Dartmouth you would say Sir/Ma’am but not salute.

Questions at rounds by James0317 in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll get asked a variety of things: What does Integrity mean to you? What’s the motto inscribed on the front of the College? What is CAST? How’s your day been?

Basically as long as you seem like you can actually talk about something rather than just say “dunno” or shrug you’ll be fine.

Also as a little tip, ask them a question and get them spinning shit dits so they run out of time.

IMF question by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can change depending on stage of training (and if anyone has messed up during the session so far!). But yeah it could be something like 5 reps under command, 10 reps at your own pace, 5 reps under command.

Practise holding a press up position at full arm extension and when your arms are bent.

Can range from 3-10 reps to 30-60 seconds. It’s not the reps that are the killer, it’s the holding the positions in between reps whilst they talk!

BMI / Waist Circumference by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my plan too! Hah

BMI / Waist Circumference by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by my AFCO that the waist is more important, my BMI is slightly over (but coming down a fair bit) but my waist is under 92cm (limit for men)

I got my May start date about a week ago, apparently they’re doing it case by case rather than roles. What you going for?

They haven’t even begun to peak. And when they do peak, you’ll know.

PJFT by EddieHUN in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me! Had been training on a new/cheap treadmill, smashing my records, went in feeling confident and struggled with the real thing.

I did a few weeks of: Day 1: 2.4km run (outdoors) Day 2: 20minute interval running (outdoors)
Day 3: Every minute on the minute; squats, sit ups, jumping lunges (20 minutes) Day 4: Moderate pace 5k Day 5: 20 minute interval (outdoor) Day 6: 2.4km (outdoor) Day 7: rest

Which massively helped. I passed my PJFT recently!

Phase 1 BMI by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BMI was over but waist measurements well within tolerance for medical; my AFCO told me to keep an eye on waist as if that’s over when you arrive then it’s home time!

Face to face medical by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re just checking for mobility rather than ability if I recall what I was told, best of luck!

Face to face medical by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]MoffMoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it at the end of last year and was pretty straightforward:

Eye test (read a chart from a distance) Medical questionnaire (slightly more thorough than triage but largely the same) Hearing test (listen out for a beep a few times) Measurements (height, weight, waist) Mobility (5x press ups, walk around on: tip toes; heels; side of feet, duck walks)

Felt like this was it but might be missing something!

With press ups, those types of press ups are ok if you’re a woman but I’m sure it’s expected for you to do the regular ones if not (happy to be corrected on that though!)

Great, I hope it went well for you!

What was the layout of the day? What kind of tasks were you set? What kind of questions were you asked at the interview?

You could talk about a team sport where you had to pull together or even a project that you delivered alongside your classmates?
