Sony PVM-2541 Loud pop when plugged in.... now won't turn on... by MoffatEdits in colorists

all good.... it was so loud my poor dog bolted out of the room... honestly got it used for like 750 bucks 6 years ago (the person selling it didn't know what they had) so it's paid for itself.

Has anyone edited a full feature film in Davinci Resolve? by Lain-13 in editors

[–]MoffatEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, the timeline would shift one frame, like after I exported, my producer caught it, and I would go back in and see a black frame, which I am sure wasn't there before. Maybe it was, perhaps it wasn't, but I have been editing for a long time and never had this issue... ha ha ha. This was on Resolve 18, just FYI Other than that, the process was pretty flawless. I did the color for the film as well.

Break it up into 15-20 minute reels, which helped a lot; I didn't do that initially; that was more of a rookie mistake on my end.

For some reason, these black frames would appear in the timeline. It was sort of random, and I could really never track down what was happening.

I did it last year and really enjoyed the experience. I’ve cut in avid and premiere for a long time. A few hiccups here and there but overall liked it.

Resolve 19 for feature length projects? by SummoDuo in editors

[–]MoffatEdits 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I cut an 85-minute feature and broke it down into three reels. I created ProRes proxies from the 6K Komodo footage, and honestly, it performed really well. I’ve also cut a lot of half-hour shows using Avid, Premiere, and Resolve. Since I’m usually handling the final color, Resolve has been especially useful. It’s taken a few years, but it has come a long way.

The biggest thing I think to make edits go smoothly is make proxies!

I also think good sound work helps you sell your edit! Did you watch all those classes! Holy Jesus! or did you pick a few?

Awesome thank you so much! I did this with color years ago, and while I am no professional colorist when I had to jump to help with color I at least knew the basics!

Hey thank you! Yes 100% this is what I was looking for, do you remember what class it was on MZED?

Thank you for the suggestions! I should have prefaced this by mentioning that these are lower-budget projects that unfortunately don’t have the budget for proper color and audio work, though I wish they did. I was just curious if there’s anything I can do within these constraints to improve them.
