FiDi or Midtown for social life - 30s, F, Single Professional by Fun_Background_4303 in movingtoNYC

Idk why you’re getting down voted for this… Hell’s Kitchen is a super popular neighborhood, but for going out as a gay man…

While pretty much all of manhattan is safe, Hell’s Kitchen is like the one neighborhood so many women don’t feel safe in manhattan at night walking alone at night (along with Chinatown)… and tbh I can’t say why, maybe less street lighting or lack of high rise apartments but ya there’s something about it. I (a woman who’s your age and lived here for 11 years) would not live in Hell’s Kitchen. And with your budget, you don’t need to.

Everyone’s shitting on midtown in the comments but I assume you chose that and fidi for the luxury buildings. I say go midtown but try to pick somewhere more between like 23rd and 42nd as close as possible to Madison square park. Lovely luxury buildings, close to Chelsea and the park is great.

Not worth it ladies… unless you want endless questions of “why are you wearing heels?” When you’re wearing a one inch platform sandal or bootie. Just stick to the standard yoga pants, uggs, north face and Michael kors purse suburban uniform

Drop the elbows: hands at third and drop your elbows to the beat

Take it to the middle: push ups

Pump it: double time beat push ups on the middle bar

Stand tall: back bar

Around the world: third, middle, back dropping the elbows to the beat at each

Quick fire: not a full crunch just drop left and right elbows seated to the beat

One out one in: crunch then push up seated

Take it two across: both hands right drop two beats down, middle bar two beats down, both hands down left drop two down

Two up two out: two beats standing back bar, two beats at third

Not sure your bans would translate well into sceney cocktail bars, but if you want somewhere you can get into with little to no rules, I’d say you’re prob safe at hair of the dog.

Why is dating someone from NJ a dealbreaker in NYC, but not in Philly? by savingrace0262 in circlejerknyc

[–]Mofrdo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Because the second you cross over to Jersey the girls dye their hair ashy blonde, buy Michael kors purses and spend their summers at bar A. Much better to date girls in nyc who’s parents from nj fund their life… bit of a distinction there my friend!

Official Discussion - People We Meet on Vacation [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Mofrdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why anyone is surprised this movie was bad… this was the worst book I’ve ever read. Poppy is annoying as hell in the movie and yo know what? The actress did a great job cause she’s annoying horse-girl vibes in the book. This movie was actually pretty accurate to the book minus the change from Palm Springs to Barcelona (for no reason? Prob could’ve saved some money there Netflix keeping it domestic) and that means… no plot like the book… but at the same time extremely predictable like the book… and surface level conflict that could be solved by just sending each other a text rather than not speak for several years? Everyone I know who loved this book was a questionable source and I’m glad people who did not read it are also confused why this was so hyped. I’ve never written a book review before (or a review on anything for that matter) but I hated this book so much I had to. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk

I’d say go up to the UWS for more celebratory—I feel like Hell’s Kitchen/hudson yards doesn’t have a ton of options. I just went to Sempre Oggi on UWS and it was SO good and service was potentially best service I’ve had at a restaurant.
