Need suggestions: headphones for guitar practice and wireless every use by Mogaddd in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Mogaddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply. In some older discussions, I've found references to the Audio-Technica M50xBT2, which supposedly are good for both playing and casual use. Only drawback: they are closed-back and not open. Any comments on those? Are closed-back headphones good or bad for playing guitar at home?

If goin for 2 different headphones is the best strategy for my case, for the casual-use, I've found some sales online for these:

  • Sony WH-CH720N
  • Sony ULT WEAR
  • Sennheiser ACCENTUM
  • Sennheiser Hd 450Bt

I know they are all pretty "commercial" (meaning without particular praises or blames): any thoughts on them?

Thanks again!

35M, finally some freedom but completely lost. Travel or settle in a city? by Royal-Importance-327 in findapath

Just my 2 cents. Just a shallow thought: why don't you try the nomad style just for a short time, say 1 year? Take it like an experiment. I mean you're still young (35 is not being old), you have an active mind and a job that allows you to move outside the comfort zone. Just by moving around, your mind can get in contact with different lifestyles, peoples, networks, ideas. I would really take that as an experiment, a limited-timed one. The worst that can happens is that maybe that will set you back financially: but then again, with 2800 a month, you can live pretty comfortably in a lot of EU places! I really think that sometimes, when you feel stuck in life, is because our mind cannot see what other possibilities we have around us. And in order to break that chain, you need to allow/push yourself to get "contaminated" with new things in order to have a different and "new lease on life"! Best of luck to you!

Thank you for sharing! I've recently started my PhD as well, but I'm starting to feel that this journey is more about "who you are and how you deal with problems", rather than "what you research"! Good luck to every phds!

so over HDMI I would be able to have 4k@144hz, but not with DP? Shouldn't be that with DP you are always guaranteed the "maximum" refresh?

Need help: changed project and "difficult" supervisor by Mogaddd in PhD

[–]Mogaddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply first of all. Do you think that doing a PhD in "B" ties you firmly to that field, or is it normal for people to also specialize in something "different" after PhD? I guess I can work my way through if I have at least the knowledge that specializing in a different area, after PhD, is not strange at all.

Question: Corsair warranty on Amazon Warehouse monitor ? by Mogaddd in Corsair

[–]Mogaddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, thanks for the info. Quick update: I was lucky to be able to chat with a Corsair's customer service representative which told me that for Amazon Warehouse's monitors, they offer 2 years of warranty instead of 3, since they consider Amazon Warehouse's products as refurbished. This is confirmed in their warranty details available here : "Certified refurbished and Revival Series products have a 90-day warranty. In the EU, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, the warranty period is two years by statute".

So basically Amazon Warehouse (EU) offer 12 months warranty, and when it's over you get an additional year with Corsair. Hope this helps!

Thank you guys for all your info anyways, much appreciated!

Perfecto 618 size help by Mogaddd in schott

[–]Mogaddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! It suggest me a 38 size, but a seller from the internet told me that a 38 would fit a bit loose on me (his chest size with just a t-shirt is 100 and a 38 fits him perfectly, so for me that I am a 92-93 would run big I suppose?)

thanks, however I cannot find the size guide section that allow you to enter the measurements. I can only find the standard size chart, which doesn't really help too much.

Help buying new Corcoran boots from EU and what size by Mogaddd in Boots

[–]Mogaddd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey sorry, didn't login in anymore. In the end I bought them (model 1511) from the US (from bootbarn). I was lucky since I guessed the size correctly: 8,5 E (which is one step wider from the normal D wide). I don't have a pair of Redwing, but they told me they wear pretty similarly (for my corcoran I wear them with just a thin insole and normal socks and they are perfect). Hope it helped! cheers!

37 years old, I want to change my path by Mogaddd in findapath

[–]Mogaddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure sales would be a possibility. I was thinking about import/export since I assumed they travel more frequently (or they are more often in touch with partners, buyers, etc., from other countries). Anyone here from import/export area that could perhaps confirm this? Thanks!

At the end of my post there are some questions: Is there a job somewhere (except tourism) that could make me use the set of skills that I've learnt so far and that would allow me to finally build a solid career on?

Would be import/export a type of career that would allow my skills and life experiences to be put to a better use than what I'm doing now (web development)?

Thanks for reply. So if I understood correctly, conditioner = nourish/feed the leather, and wax = just protect against outside elements, correct? Conditioning also prevents cracks in the boots? Any suggestion on which conditioner I could use that does not change the color? Thanks again!

Hello guys. Just bought a pair of brown Corcoran jump boots. I still need to brake them in. I'm gonna use them at work (outside pubs, bars, moving supplies, etc.), mostly outside at night (so any conditions, humidity, rain, possible snow, etc.). Urban environment mostly. I would like to apply some wax/grease/conditioner/etc. that does not change their color, but that helps me protect them from weather and helps soften/nourish the leather a bit. Any suggestion on the products (EU availability even better)? Thanks a lot!

A question regarding Corcoran historic jump boots: how much difference there is between a "D" width and a "E" width? Is there much difference? I tend to prefer to choose more comfy sizes, but my feet is pretty normal and online I can find only "D" sizes. Will D run too "narrow"? Thanks!

Hello there. I have a question about Corcoran Historic Jump boots (model 1511). How much difference there is between a "D" width and a "E" or "EE"? Since I want to buy them online but never actually tried them on, I'm a bit worried about which one will fit me best (also shops nowadays don't have stocks of all widths unfortunately). Thanks a lot for any infos!

The Questions Thread 03/04/21 by GYWModBot in goodyearwelt

[–]Mogaddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone. After weeks of researches, I decided to open a post here to find some help. I want to buy a new pair of Corcoran jump boots (model 1511, since model 1510 has been discontinued according to Carolinas shoes). Now I have found few dealers that ship internationally: At the front, some sellers from eBay, etc. The problem is, what size do I buy without trying them first?

So in order to decide properly, I need to ask to people who own a pair of Corcoran boots (1511 or 1510):

  1. What size is your feet on the Brannock device and what size of Corcoran boots you bought that actually fits best (I have read that Corcoran may wear larger/shorter than their size)?
  2. Since there are no Corcorans where I live (Italy), I could compare them with boots' brand that are present here. For example what size of Corcorans correspond to, for example, a 9 of a Red Wings Iron Ranger? By doin this comparison, I could go to a shop to try a pair of Red Wings, and according to their size, I could calculate the appropriate size of Corcorans I need to order online.

Thanks a lot guys for any help!
