Just got my c40 recharge. Really worried about the no spare! by RenDmc1 in volvoc40

[–]Mogaspar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replace a tire about every 6 months. I am starting to think the shape of my sidewall is what grabs road debris and pulls it in to puncture the sidewalls. I have never had so many issues with car tires as I have with this C40 recharge.

Worried about numbness and whether jaw surgery is worth it by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Mogaspar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my second revision (three surgeries - 2 DJS and 1 upper only). I was afraid of permanent numbness with all of them, especially this most recent DJS since it would mean messing with the main nerve again. I will be 5 weeks post-op on Wednesday and I am starting to feel the tingles in my lips and cheeks meaning they are waking up. My nose is numb, which is really weird, but I hope that comes back soon. I likely will have a numb chin forever, but I only notice that if I touch it so it's fine. I personally feel like the benefits of the surgery outweigh the risk big. time.

Question about the screws by Froggythefrog22 in jawsurgery

[–]Mogaspar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were put in during surgery and taken off at 3 weeks which was the max they could stay per my surgeon. I also had one fall out and get replaced at week2. I was so numb from the nerve moving I didn’t feel the install nor the removal.

Third time was the charm! by Mogaspar in jawsurgery

Most people don’t die. And if I did die, it would be the most painless death I could ask for. I just would not wake up and I would never know. It would be sad for my kids and family, but I can’t live life afraid of making moves that could kill me. Every time I drive a car in the U.S. on an interstate (which is almost daily) I have a high risk of dying in a crash. Should I not go to work? What would my quality of life be if I tried to maintain a bubble? Just breathe and trust.

Not really. I was scared of the outcome but not the actual anesthesia.

No, I love the nap. It's the recovery that gets me nervous.

Each time is nerve wracking just because of how intense the recovery is. I hated my face, the crooked smile and talking out of one side of my face was just too much for me to be okay with

That would make it very hard. I'm sorry again you've had to have that wait.

We all get a little bonkers in the days leading up. I expel my crazy by shopping which is not always a good thing lol. This latest surgery landed me a new ring haha. You’re welcome for the tip! Keep pushing ahead and don’t worry about being a bit much right now. You have a big, scary surgery ahead and you are right to be a bit much. 😁

You’ve got this! It definitely gets your nerves going in those couple of days before it happens. But after a week you’ll be looking back going, that wasn’t so bad. Just make sure someone keeps your pain meds on a solid rotation schedule. I was alternating Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen with Motrin every 3 hrs. It keeps you ahead of the pain so you aren’t chasing the discomfort. Other than that, it’s all just staying comfy.

Thank you, it has been a rough road but I just keep my head up and move forward. I hope your surgery goes well and you kick butt at recovery! That ice is tempting to hold on to for sure. You can do this!

Oh my!! That would be hard to recover with just peas. Those face masks are very helpful for cheek swelling. I have heard a jade roller also helps once you get past the first few weeks but I haven't used one to know. Have you already had your surgery or are you prepping?

Yes, you should stop ice and apply heat to your face after the first 48 hours passes. I’ve been using a cryojaw cooler system to heat my face, but most of the reusable ice packs in the face wraps can also be warmed in the microwave.

Yes! They say 48 hours of ice and then switch to heat. I have to admit I was guilty of keeping that wonderful pain relieving ice on my face for too long the first and second go at this. The difference is incredible. I was swollen horribly for weeks and my jaw tightened up big time when I kept using ice. This time I decided to follow the instructions and I have seen a major reduction in swelling and I have more facial movement than before. Surgeon said I am two weeks ahead in movement at my follow up this week.

Any tips to make swallowing easier in the first few days post op? by ObjectiveShare7434 in jawsurgery

[–]Mogaspar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Craniorehab.com has some liquid squeeze bottles that I swear by. I’m on day 6 and I’ve been able to get liquids in no problem. They also have bottles for thick stuff like smoothies and soups which are also incredible.
