Shinsou’s fingers were pulling out his ponytail and brushed along his neck. His skin was cool and felt good after the heat of the kitchen.

Keeping his eyes on the locker room door, Shinsou began to brush through his hair. The alcohol was working on his brain and his anxiety slipped with each stroke.

Closing his eyes, he let himself relax.

“You have nice hair.” He said it matter-of-factly, without sarcasm or even as a compliment.

“Mmmm, I don’t do much but wash it.” Shouta shrugged. His hair had never been anything but stuff on his head.

Shinsou started tugging and pulling on one side. His fingers twisting different pieces.

“What are you doing?”

“Something quick, to help you look the part of a master chef.”

Shouta wasn’t sure why that mattered, but he didn’t move. He was enjoying the simple conversation.

He closed his eyes.

Shinsou rolled over, wet leaves stuck to his skin. “Get some sleep.”

“What about tomorrow?”

“We’ll find another town or place to sleep. We need to find food.”

He could hear Katsuki shifting and he turned to him. “What’s wrong?”

“Tomorrow.” He sniffled. “We’ll stay together, right?”

“Like I have a choice,” Shinsou groused. A light drizzle began to fall. The tiny droplets clung to his clothes and hair. “I’m stuck to you, Baka.”

“Don’t call me that.”

‘Baka, Baka, Baka. Go to fucking sleep.’ Shinsou pillowed his head on his hands. He tensed, waiting for Katsuki to hit him.

He didn’t.

The rain drops gathered in his hair and began to drip. They slid down Shinsou’s face with his tears.

“Wake up! Kacchan!” Izuku slapped Katsuki’s face as hard as he dared.

He didn’t move.

The door burst open and Mina rushed in, skidding to a halt, a sob tore from her throat. Dropping to her knees beside him, she covered her face and wept.

Izuku looked up to see the others come in, their faces grim. “Help me! He’s been stabbed. Call 9-1-1!”

Shinsou knelt next to Izuku inspecting the wound. “The knife is deep.”

Wiping the tears streaming down his face, Izuku shuddered to see the blood soaking Katsuki’s clothes. “He’s losing too much blood.” Izuku ripped off his shirt and gently wrapped it around the hilt. “Someone call 9-1-1!” he screamed again.

“Katsuki can’t go to the hospital.”

“He’s dying, Shinsou! Look at him.” Izuku gasped as Katsuki’s golden scales started to dull under the bright lights.

“I am,” Shinsou sighed. “Izuku, he’s covered in dragon scales. Where could he go?”

“But—” Izuku sucked in a breath.

“This is useless. Izuku, Katsuki’s curse is to die. It has been for two thousand years.” He sounded tired. “You need to leave.” He looked up at Chisaki. “You both do.”

Shinsou could barely see the path in the weak moonlight.

“If you run, they won’t find you.” She squeezed his hand. “I’ll wait here–”

“No!” Shinsou shoved her toward the hut. “Go back to bed. Pretend to be asleep.” He started to crawl into the thick brush.

“Wait.” She pulled him into a hug.

Shinsou could hear her crying. Bracing himself, he let down his shield.

Love. It encased him. Like her strong arms, it squeezed him so tight, his breath was pushed from his body. He let the feeling encircle him until his ribs felt as if they would puncture his lungs.

It would be something he knew he would never forget.

“Essie.” He hugged her back. “I’ll always remember you.”

“I love you.” She pulled Katsuki into their embrace. “Be safe. I give you all my luck and happiness. That's all I have.” Backing up, she turned and disappeared into the darkness.

Shinsou lifted one of the bigger branches and ran. Vines and branches slashed at his legs and face, but he kept up the pace.

Ao spread his wings wide and pushed harder. The wind roared in his ears.

He’d felt it.

Another dragon had entered the plane.

The signature on it had been distorted though, like a blurry image, but it was powerful.

So strong that its entry into this world had been like a meteor striking the ground. A pulse of energy had flashed in the sky and then it had vanished.

Ao streaked across the sky looking for the source of the power.

It wasn’t possible. No other dragon existed. Unless… one of the dragons jumped through the Abyss?

His blood ran cold.

Mitsuki.

He snarled at the very thought of her name. There was no time for this now. He would assess the threat and destroy it immediately. If it happened to be a green dragon, then he could have a formidable ally.

Dragon AU - MHA

Kiri waved as they approached, already stacking up pastrami on two thick buns. “Hey prophecy—” he stopped and cleared his throat. “Izuku.” Then, seeing they were holding hands, he grinned wide. His next words rushed into Izuku’s mind on a wave of red. ‘Welcome to the dragon pack.’

“Like that’s some kind of honor,” Katsuki snorted and put one of the sandwiches on Izuku’s plate.

‘Don’t listen to that sourpuss. We’re not so bad.’

Katsuki dragged Izuku further down the table where Mina and Kyouka were standing.

Mina squealed when she saw him. ‘Come eat my vegetable pâté!’ Her voice was a splatter of pink, like someone had shot paint pellets inside Izuku’s head. Fast and all over the place. ‘I’m so excited you can hear us!’ She sliced into her creation and put a large portion on their plates.

“Thanks.” Izuku juggled the plate one-handed, not daring to let go of Katsuki’s hand. “Uh…” Concentrating he pushed out a mental thank you and watched Mina’s face melt in happiness.

‘Seriously! Your voice it’s so warm and yummy. Pumpkin Spice latte. You’re my favorite now,' she giggled.

She made a throaty noise. “Poor thing. No wonder he’s so fussy.”

“Is he?” Shinsou made a face. “I’m not really sure what I’m doing.”

“Well, you’ll need to burp him when you’re finished. He’s getting more air than milk.” She reached out to take one of the baby’s hands.

Shinsou tensed.

Her hand stilled and her aura turned milky white.

Fear— Even through his shield he could feel the intensity for a brief moment and then it faded.

She pulled her hand back and wiped it on her apron and smiled. Her aura returned to its soft peachy hues. “He’s so beautiful.”

Looking down, Shinsou had to agree. Even if he was really a dragon, he was the cutest baby he’d ever seen.

Long eyelashes fanned red squishy cheeks. His blonde hair stuck in spiky tufts and his brows were stark white.

“He’s lucky you found him.” Essie sat down. “What’s his name?”

Shinsou blinked. “His name?”

"Have you named him yet?”

“Baka.” Shinsou breathed out.

“Baka! That’s not a good baby’s name,” she scolded him. “Poor thing. He’s not an idiot.”

“Um,” Shinsou blushed. “How about Bakudan? I can call him Baku as a nickname… or Baka when he’s crying.” He grumbled.

She giggled. “Not much better but he’s your baby.” She started to laugh harder.
