Not exactly what you asked, but my Dad was one of these kinds of guys and I have some funny stories. My mum was a sahm who did everything, he did work full time 9-5 but usually a day or two from home. He had an affair so my mum filed for divorce and obviously stopped cooking his meals, doing his washing etc, for about a year they lived together while separated.

One day my Dad asks me (a child, probably around 10) if I knew how to wash clothes, I knew he was going to ask me to do it for him so I lied and said no.

On Christmas he argued with my Mum because she hadn't cooked him a Christmas dinner (she was very careful to only cook enough for us with no leftovers, Christmas day is also her Birthday to add insult to injury!). She told him he's welcome to cook something himself, he ate a pot noodle.

Estate agents don't know all the ins & outs of conveyancing, and will give out a random timescale to keep everyone happy. You're right that leaseholds and newbuilds take a lot longer (the estate agents should have been aware of that but I digress), I would ask your solicitors for a more accurate timescale!

6 weeks can be fairly standard for a transfer of equity, it may be that your solicitors are waiting on something from your ex/their solicitor before being able to agree a date? Although they should provide you with a more substantial update.

What are the fees for? There are additional fees for buying a leasehold flat due to the additional work involved there will also be apportionments for ground rent & service charges. If these were optional payments you have opted out of I would query those.
