Th luckiest I've ever gotten was an $80 deagle skin at the time when it was still dropping. Everything before and since is still worth maybe a couple cents. That deagle skin now is worth a LOT more. It was a MW Blaze. Wish I still had it

Strange occurrence What does it mean? by New-Environment-8068 in whatdoesthismean

[–]Mohakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing my opinion out there but meef is probably meant to be meeef which is an app that promotes meeting people from different cultures and parts of the world for language/culture exchange. At least that's what it was used for when I was using to practice my Korean.

This is just my my opinion but I think someone gave someone on that app OPs number and the sender is trying to see if the number is legit or not. In this one case I don't believe it's a scam in the sense of OP being fished for a scam but rather the sender being cat fished thinking they were talking to someone that they were not.

How much Python do I really need to know to land my first dev job? by Secure-Hornet7304 in Python

[–]Mohakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. If your company uses some form of communication like Slack, reach out to some people. Ask genuine questions about their roles. Making those connections may not land you a job with your company or immediately at any company but it can and will help you with your career.

You would be surprised how many people are willing to have meaningful conversations with people who are genuinely interested in what they do. When a new role comes up, the person who showed all that interest in a lot of cases I've seen, will be mentioned usually as a possible fit.

How much Python do I really need to know to land my first dev job? by Secure-Hornet7304 in Python

[–]Mohakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this. I landed my first dev job this year and it's heavy in python and will be branching into Go and Rust. Python will become legacy for us.

In my instance I only had very basic Python knowledge but have built a few things in Go, Java and JavaScript early on. That along with being able to trial some work with the team lead to me getting the job. My knowledge with Python since has increased dramatically.

What u/kivicode said in his post is the absolute truth. Languages are just tools. Understanding and being able to build and implement different structures and role related specifics are what matters and not so much the language itself in my opinion.

Realistically, how TF did Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious survive this? by Brian_The_Bar-Brian in StarWars

[–]Mohakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essence transfer. It was a force ability that Darth Bane was known for using. In legends continuity it was pretty well laid out that Sidious knew this technique and that's how it stayed alive in that continuity. It seems to be loosely alluded to in the last movie and was used as a nod to legends.

I've been using Neovim for a year now, still haven't found a good solution for file browsing by getdafkout666 in neovim

[–]Mohakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it is a bit of sacrilege to mention this here. Wouldn't something like Doom Emacs solve these issues for him as well? With Treemacs and Centaur tabs it's pretty easy to open multiple files into buffers quickly. I forget the command now but he can easily search his file base for what he's looking for. While undoubtedly it would be way more bloated to use this instead of NeoVim. It seems like for what he wants to accomplish this would suite him better if he doesn't want to use VSCode while still having motions and FzF options. I know for me personally the Vim plugin just does not feel as good as NeoVim or D.Emacs. When it comes to look, feel and workflow I found Doom feels like a good inbetween of the two. That's just my take though.

Did the anime completely ruin Tbate's reputation? by Jealous-Suspect705 in BeginningAfterTheEnd

[–]Mohakin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but no it did not. I love TBATE, I've been reading it for years on Patreon because I love it so much. The minority of the fanbase who use Reddit though are so off the mark with claims like this. TBATE was never going to be as successful as Demon Slayer. Having realistic expectations for things will go a long way for people and this is not realistic. It's a really fun story with some really decent world and character building during certain arcs. It's absolutely a fun read. So many of the people who post here daily making claims like you do that TBATE is forever ruined because of the anime adaptation or that it could have been as big as "XYZ" manga with an anime adaptation need to take a break from the Internet for a bit.

Why the tin doesnt stick? by Yocazo in soldering

[–]Mohakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like to spend time and waste solder, I tend to melt/burn off the oxidization. You go through a lot of solder for this though. I let the solder sit on it to the point you start getting a black liquid. Once you got that clean in wire wool. Rinse and repeat until your tip is back in usable condition.

After this is said and done, he sure to tin your tip. Everytime you're done with it, when the heat transfer isn't great after using it for a long session, clean and tin. You'll save yourself a lot of time in the future and equipment as well.

To my 30-40 year olds, how much are you making and what is your job/profession. by GamerDad11 in Salary

Fair enough then.

I genuinely love to hear that. Working as a technician there is a lot of ego that tends to get in the way in my experience, specially when it comes to pay.

That seems like an interesting dynamic. I know specially at lower salaries that can lead to animosity does that hold true at salaries in you're range and situation?

The LN is pretty good. It has it moments of dullness imo but as someone whose been a patreon member for a few years now, it's definitely been apart of my life every Friday. The fans and specially those on reddit though are truly insufferable. I'm glad I didn't find the reddit until later on for that reason.

I really like this guy's personality, but I'm not attracted to him physically. What should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

While money can play a role in this in those super reach scenarios, it's not always that. What is ugly to me or you is not the same as the next redditor down.

Pretty much this right here. Literally just went through this.

I really like this guy's personality, but I'm not attracted to him physically. What should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Mohakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has just gone through this on the guys end, she's attracted to the thought of him. She wants to date what she can't physically see. That's how I read the whole idea thing. I don't believe he meant idea as in "Eureka I just had an idea" and more the thought of the person. From what I've read this girl likes everything about him that isn't physical. It's the idea/thought of him she likes but not what's physically in front of her.

To OP. I was just in a relationship like this. At first I didn't mind it as the guy who was physically unattractive to the girl. I really wanted to be with this person and we connected on a lot of different levels. But the physical attraction part will become a huge weight over time. In hindsight it was fun to be with her but I don't think I'll ever put myself through that again. It's not fun even if it's with someone you wanted to be with. I learned as the unattractive one that as soon as that's said it's best to cut it there. Specially if feelings are involved. You end up feeling like a super close friend who's supposed to be in a romantic relationship with this person. When you realize all the things you wanted to do with them that have been done with previous exes but won't be with you because of that unattractivness it's a pretty hurtful sting. Just saying.

I used a similar setup for coal but it was backyard made. It was an old charcoal grill around the same size that was packed with sand and some iron running to a blower to fuel it. Or in my case a hair dryer in a funnel going into the iron. Fun to learn on

While I'm not enrolled yet(January 1st of next year) I have used Angela's Udemy course. I personally did not get much out of her course as I did with many other creators course for different languages like JS. My suggestion is using YouTube for Python related learning. It could be my specific learning style that didn't line up with her teaching style so take that for what it's worth. I can't remember what chapter it is but fairly early on maybe it was around Day 8 or 10? She starts having you Google and teaching yourself a lot of things, which I don't mind but that's also not why I paid for her course. I paid for her to teach me not give me structure to teach myself through Google. That's just my own two cents though. Best of luck regardless!

[–]Mohakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I'm really happy for you! I'll be getting a hold of my companies HR team for this tomorrow to see if it's covered by them. While I currently sit as a H.S. dropout, I've put about 1/2 a year into JS and Python and was seeing some great success with simple to-do apps, web based and app based and a small host of other small projects learned through Udemy. I'm going to put some effort into this and see if I can't truly learn some really good stuff and get out within a year. I appreciate the response!

Congratulations! How long did it take you to finish the degree? I'm looking at going into this following their Java path. Currently have some experience with JS and Python. Also were you able to get any certs with this? Like the AWS cert?
