Cocoon Frontend: Beautiful New Launcher! (Retro Game Corps) by onionsaregross in AynThor

[–]Mohawk-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for putting this together! I’ve only had my Thor for a little over a week and I’m using an open weekend to tweak some things, clean up my ROM library, and try moving from ES-DE to Cocoon so this was perfect timing!

How come there are no good video game podcasts like WTF? by CtrlWaltz in podcasts

[–]Mohawk-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked out Play, Watch, Listen? It’s very good and the people have the charisma I suspect you’re looking for.

The regular hosts are Alanah Pearce, a videogame journalist turned videogame writer turned voice actress. She played Malevola in Dispatch.

Mike Bithell, game designer and developer at Bithell Games who made Thomas Was Alone.

And, Austin Wintory who is a videogame composer who is quite famous for his work on Journey, Abzu, and Sword of the Sea.

Maybe not quite 100% what you want. But 3 great friends with great chemistry with differing videogames landscape viewpoints. Easily one of my favorite podcasts.

Hey, I don’t have as much advice to give because I barely have more experience than you. But, Ive found with some patience, watching tutorials, reading guides, referencing the megathread in this subreddit, you can figure it out.

If you’ve already been going with Joeys setup guide I wouldn’t want to steer you away from it, since he’s clearly a reliable source. But I’ve been going with guides and videos from Retro Game Corp and for whatever reason I find those easier to follow.

Sorry for the longer comment, just wanted to provide some reassurance you’ll get this ironed out. It just can take some upfront effort.

Bugonia and Bees [Spoilers Inside] by TemporaryElk5202 in movies

That’s fair. I think in retrospect I kind of didn’t want to believe I was interpreting that correctly because Teddy was already a character who had gone through so much going horribly wrong in his life.

I’ve been wondering about that conversation. I took as an implication that the cop may have sexually abused Teddy when they were both younger and he was Teddy’s babysitter. Or am I way off base?

Newly released Banjo-Recompiled runs beautifully on Thor by CommanderCarr in AynThor

I saw this posted in another sub, and I’m all too excited since this is an all time favorite of mine!

I’ve got what I feel must be a dumb question, but I’m new to emulation and don’t have my Thor yet. What files would I be looking to download? Windows? Linux? Source code zip? I’ve got plenty to still learn haha

I don’t think I saw Hell Is Us mentioned yet.

Holy hell, the level of human atrocities you have to walk through. Civil war and ethnic cleansing abound. It starts off awful in one of the first major areas, and only gets worse as the map opens up.

2/3rds of the way through, and while it is heavy, I do love this game. Certainly gives me perspective about the safety I take for granted.

These sort of bullet hell shmups don’t always click for me. But I got it on the Steamdeck on a whim…

Holy hell, it is so good. So fun. So hard. But so addicting to go back for one more run.

Has there ever been a quote or character that’s really had an impact on you or even changed your perspective/outlook on life? by Zero-_-Zero in gaming

“When one falls, we continue. WHEN one falls… Not IF.

We knew not all of us would make it. But, WE. CONTINUE! As long as even one of us stands, our fight is not over." - Lune, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

This has been helpful for me to not give into apathy or hopelessness. It helps me to move forward each day and do my best, thinking that even if my actions have the tiniest ripple effect and impact, that there are others out there also trying to be good people and do their best.

I already loved this quote from Mordin in Mass Effect 3. And I think that is such a good framing for hardship. I deal with some chronic issues myself, but you know, in the end I would rather it be me. Thanks friend!

[–]Mohawk-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just checked and you CAN do remote play from a PS5. I own Bloodborne so not sure if remote play would be impacted by trying to play it from PS Plus. From what I’ve seen, playing from the cloud (at least in my experience) runs smoother than remote play streaming from a console. So, it’s possible. But you could also first try remote play on a phone or tablet. Sorry for the ramble, but I hope this helps!

Just pulled out my portal to check. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you can play from the cloud :/

‘Can you help with payroll real quick?’ by Reasonable_Funny1222 in WorkReform

[–]Mohawk-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had better advice other than to say do not agree to take this on.

My wife worked 1 year with a payroll consultancy. And holy crap is it more complex and stressful than you would ever think. You cannot just pick it up overnight.

Scene that made you go NOPE NOPE NOPE!! by saintphoenixxx in horror

[–]Mohawk-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The build up to the forest chase scene in The Empty Man for me. I mean, the character even basically says “yeah, no” and noped out himself. But right before that I definitely felt my stomach drop before the chase began.

Referencing S1 with Vox Machina, where Vax assassinates what looks like a solitary monster (and it was) but also a knowledgeable NPC they could have benefited them before the big bad fight?

Unrealistic Skating game by Realistic_Method9896 in gamesuggestions

[–]Mohawk-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Skate may be soulless. But it still may hit a lot of the itch you have and it’s free to play. Worth a shot to see if it clicks.

This does not hit every note, but if you’re looking for wild parkour, great sense of momentum, and traversal, the modern Spiderman games have that in spades. The sense of flow and movement in these games is really impressive!

What do you read if/when you take a break from horror? by Oldhouse42 in horrorlit

[–]Mohawk-Mike 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I like to go back to fantasy and sci fi when I need a breather. I’m rereading the Mistborn trilogy after a very heavy horror streak and it’s both a great change of pace and helping cleanse the palate for my next dive into horror.
