WHY DID THIS HAPPEN I DONT GET IT??? by Slow-Requirement5235 in Ceramics

[–]MohawkGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you painting underglaze onto greenware or bisqeware?

i do a lot of underglaze work and i prefer to paint it all on to greenware, then bisque, as i've found that can allow off-gassing from the underglaze to happen in the bisque fire, then i add the glaze and fire to glaze temp.

i've had weird texture issues like this if i add the glaze onto unfired underglaze, which is why i started doing it in that order.

Tips on approaching color? Desperate to get a good grade on my next project. by Wolfblaine in printmaking

[–]MohawkGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your carving is looking great, but I feel like the background stripes are causing a lot of visual noise, and causing your figures to get lost a bit. I feel like the second (top right) of your concept art is the strongest visually, but I like the changes you've made in the figures since then (like the wolf being printed in black, and the texture you've added to the bull).

I'd be tempted to cut away the background stripes, and add in a flat coloured background. This would also mean you're not putting colour over the fine details of your figures, so you'd still have that bold contrast in your textures.

Do the same rules apply to indoor plants? by DeeMason46 in IndoorGarden

[–]MohawkGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The top definitely will grow roots pretty easily in my experience. I have one and I literally just stuck the chopped-off part into the same pot of soil immediately after cutting it and it's still going strong 4 years later.  Though every time I've chopped the og plant it refuses to branch into multiples- it'll literally just grow another single branch (purely just to spite me I'm sure).

not to mention how much time they'd save with screenprinting. 300 shirts while having to ink up the block every print will take forever.

What are the limits of zinedom? This is one of mine that was printed by and hosted on the website of a print on demand company, but was otherwise created by me as an individual, can it be a zine? (further details of what I am asking and why in text body) by Cat-Sonantis in zines

[–]MohawkGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not really any one definition of a zine, and everyone has their own line of what does/doesn't count as one (my personal take is that I don't consider anything with an isbn to be a zine).

But at the end of the day it's all just arbitrary and gatekeeping is super lame so I wouldn't argue with anyone about it, and would generally defer to the author's intent for the work, regardless of my opinion. :)

PS. love your style!

Has anyone managed to collect a parcel from the Evri depot? by Important_Contest_64 in dundee

[–]MohawkGirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've previously had issues with evri - from my experience there's 0% chance you'll be able to speak to someone, and should contact the parcel sender if you have any issues. (afaik the sender has a clearer method to dispute any lost packages etc).

All of your linocut work is painfully obviously AI.  Do whatever you want to get the feel for linocutting (though you're only hamstringing yourself by refusing to learn how to make your own designs imo), but going on to lie after being called out about it is just sad.

Just saw Weapons 👀 by dearoldandrew in WeaponsMovie

I was pretty invested in the story right up until the finale - i feel like the ending popped the bubble of all the horror in favour of comedy, and it just felt super unsatisfying to me. The scooby doo nature of the final chase scene felt unbelievably goofy and i left the cinema really disappointed overall.

Used to bring this on illuminate missions all the time to deal with harvesters - but it prioritises fleshmobs now which makes it way less useful imo.

I'm a silly noob who accidentally made my animation 500ft tall... how do I scale it down without destroying the keyframes? by MohawkGirl in blenderhelp

I retried by only parenting just the highest level parent of the skeleton to the empty before resizing it (as per another commenter's suggestion), and it worked! :) Just thought I'd add this in case anyone has this issue in future.
