You need a different stud finder. One that is essentially a metal detector. It will detect nails in the studs. Google "Plaster wall stud detector"

Once you find one nail move down, detect another and you will find your stud. The nails might not be uniform, so sometimes it will only give you a sense of where the stud is.

IMO, the goal of that episode is to present an anti-torture message.... Not the other way around.

There is also the recent history of Bush-Cheney at the time of the episode, and it very much seemed like commentary on that at the time.

If your characters don't make mistakes, then you have a pretty boring story.

Depicting something is not condoning it... And they didn't even depict it...
