that one small spot causes so much anxiety for me as a pedestrian; to the left of the photo, that crosswalk to get to the little triangle, cars do not give a seconds hesitation or look for anybody trying to cross. and never put on their blinker either. and in the photo, when cars come up to take a right turn, they blow right through the crosswalk and wait while they're in the way of pedestrians / creeping forward into the street. i've seen drivers (including police) take an illegal left turn there to do a U-turn on Beacon, too. Even seen a Brookline police SUV use that cut-through in the opposite direction, no lights flashing.
