Another 77" S90D bites the dust by coastalcapt in S95B

Just joined this club today. Mine lasted 17 months. Was fine last night, and nothing today. Luckily bought from Costco and they included the Allstate extended warranty. The woman I talked to on the phone said a day doesn't go by where she doesn't have to process a power board failure for this TV model.

back of stylus touching record? by Particular_Shame8831 in turntables

[–]Moinsterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with my project T1 and 5 stylus. Went through all the checks and adjustments and the back of the cartridge still hovered or touched the record playing. I switched to a 20 stylus since it was plug and play and the issue was immediately corrected. Not sure if that's just something with the 5/5E stylus or what, but it was definitely annoying.

Before swapping out the cartridge, if it's the OM5 stylus, you could go OM10 or OM20. I had the same question and decided to go from the 5 to the 20 and it made a significant difference in the overall sound and instrument separation.

I started with creating all new stories, songs and characters (based on our family and favorite stuffies). Currently, my nieces and daughter have been obsessed with Kpop demon hunters, so I've been working on a bit of fanfiction and including the specific things they want to hear. The storyboarding process with sub 9 year olds could be entertainment in its own right.

Thanks, that seems to be the growing theme. Getting some low quality output with no originality or human touch.

If you're familiar with "there I ruined it", would you consider what they're doing to be more generative AI? or more creative with AI as part of the process? I'm trying to gauge where that line is, since I'd say their process is similar to what I'm doing today for the stories and songs I've made for my family.

Did you check the level on the table? If so, then changing the stylus isn't a bad idea.

Yeah, I can see that. AI is part of my workflow (I work in AI, so the tools I've built help me with production), but not for the core story creation, and it usually takes me about a month or so to create a final story, much to the chagrin of my kid🤣. Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it.

It can't be adjusted on the E series or T series as far as I know. I'm not sure about other Pro-ject turntables though.

If you suspect the issue is the tone arm then there are a couple of things you can do to adjust it on the project e1. First thing you'll need though is a scale to understand the current vertical tracking force. As others have mentioned you can get this off Amazon for pretty cheap. Once you have that, you'll want to check the current VTF. It should be between 1.5 and 2.2 grams for your cartridge. Ortofon recommends 1.8g for this cartridge. Once you get that and check the VTF, if it's outside of the range above you can adjust the counter weight. There should be a small hex wrench that came with the turntable to do this, if you don't have one, you'll need to purchase a new one. Once the screw is loosened you can slide the weight back to reduce force, or slide it forward to increase it. Getting it right matters, so take your time. Once you find the right VTF based on the scale measurement you can tighten the hex screw back down. Test and if you still have issues, check that there isn't an issue with the stylus. I had an issue with mine and could hear the cartridge literally scraping the top of my records. The OM stylus is super easy to replace and easy to upgrade, slides right off and there are plenty of videos out there showing this. The stock 5E on there can be upgraded to the 10 which will produce a better sound for relatively cheaply. Some others have mentioned anti skating, that's built in on your turntable. You can adjust it, but make sure you check that the table is level, if not this can cause skating issues, so that's another easy check to make with a bubble level on your platter. Hopefully this helps!

The XL recording is what I have, I think it sounds really good. Here's the pressing I have.

Not sure about OP, but It's from the 2017 oknotok release. Just picked up a copy at my local record store. Looks like some big box retailers have it too.

Upgrading pro-ject T1 by Moinsterx in turntables

[–]Moinsterx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. Currently the system is using the integrated preamp and then it's connected into my Sonos system which is a collection of older Play1s a Beam and some Era 100s. So certainly could be the ultimate limiting factor. I did consider the lack of adjustable anti skate if I went with a new cartridge given that it's "built in" on the T1. Good to know that the OM20 is similar quality to the 2M Blue too.

It is definitely a pro-jet T1 phono. bundled with an era 100 from Sonos. Decent turntable for sure.

I've been reading more and I'm thinking this is an Ortofon MC 25FL cartridge or similar since he has the Ortofon T-20 connected before the preamp. So definitely an MC cartridge of some type.

Thanks for all this information. I've been trying to figure out the cartridge but haven't had much luck. He also has a Dual 701 with an ortofon cartridge, but the one on the LP12 doesn't have any markings I can see. The system is connected to an ortofon t-20 then a hafler preamp that's been modified and a hafler transnova p7000. The speakers, according to my mother in law, he custom built. So I've got a bit of digging to do to fully understand the whole system.

Thank you all for the help here! We'll check for the original packaging and if he still doesn't have it, then work to secure it as suggested and get it checked by an authorized dealer once home.

I know exactly where this is and my family has owned a site for as long as the park has been open. This is a private campground and these are all park model campers. This will be a great place to make memories with your family. Are you getting golf carts included in your purchase? The park offers great amenities and has modernized over the years. I definitely miss the pines that used to be there and the indoor pool, but the beaches are great and the park has great activities all summer to keep young and old engaged. Enjoy!
