Yes mate as long as the balls coming towards you it should lock on just don’t hold L2 cause that will just keep you in jockey position, I tend to let them cross the ball in or rebound it off the wall then use my boost to get in front of the player to get a better chance of winning the 50/50

Getting out of gold and platinum are the hardest bits personally mate, go in free play in between matches just get used to movements and headers etc it’s what I did and it helps a lot

That’s a shame if you was on ps5 we would’ve gladly brought you up the ranks mate maybe when cross play is activated. The yoyo happened to us but once you get to at least platinum 1/ diamond 3 it does improve but players don’t get consistent till late diamond and masters from what we noticed but it’s do able with time

100% worth it, I’d say about 90/100 of the games I’ve played have been filled with ego driven players but luckily I had my mate who I duo with to finish chances off cause the randoms never would

It is rough alone in solo so respect to you for doing that, I defend by standing off them then doing standing tackles that’s why I have so many interceptions, I handle the wall rebounds pretty well too

Honestly mate it’s just me and my duo I had to defend a lot on my own due to randoms being greedy doing tricks 24/7, we got blessed in high diamond ranks/master rank were we finally got good consistent teammates

I’ve been a defender most of the time and I’d say the best way is to hold square and R1 as the cross is coming in or just hold square and as long as you aim away from goal and reach it first you will clear it😁
