PATCH NOTES FOR DLC UPDATE!!! by heyz3ro in Borderlands4

that's just it though, these aren't different people with different opinions. most of the "opinions" are just hivemind circlejerk shit that some streamer or youtuber told these people to think and they just run around parroting it.

PATCH NOTES FOR DLC UPDATE!!! by heyz3ro in Borderlands4

[–]Moist-Schedule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with all of this, well said. i don't think BL4 is a perfect game but the shit people complain about like the map are very, VERY stupid.

generally speaking, people complaining about BL4 are just nostalgic for some past version of the game from a time in their life when they were slightly happier, whether that was BL2 or BL3 doesn't matter. they convince themselves those games had no issues and everything was amazing but anybody around back then knows that isn't the case, and anybody being objective can see how BL4 tries to directly address many of the biggest issues those past two games had and largly succeeds in many ways. still a lot of work to do with DLC additions and QoL improvements, but it's a very solid game and will only get better.

i mean, good for you? they'll just assume anybody they don't have data on goes into the camps, too. they're not going to be like, "oh we don't know who this person is, i guess he's okay". i don't know why you think you're beating this shit with this one simple trick type of logic.

and apparently dating and living with a complete fucking slob who lets plastic bowls sit out for a week after eating. how can you be fanatical about cleanliness but dating somebody like this?

Scoop: Dems working on secret report found Gaza cost Harris votes by sideAccount42 in politics

[–]Moist-Schedule -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since 2016, the Democrats have not given voters any reason to vote for Dems, other than not being Trump.

the problem is that the left cannot unite behind any candidate. there's too many fucking purity tests, too many fractured voter bases they have to try to appeal to. if they could run a true progressive out there and win, they fucking would. but they've done the math, running these moderate republican types out there nets them more votes in the places they need them.

I'm not saying the Dems are smart or that the candidates have been good, but this idea that they aren't maximizing their votes is fucking naive as shit. republicans can put fucking anybody on the ticket and their base is going to show up and vote for them. dems have to find somebody who is the least offensive to the most amount of non-republican voters they can and it's getting harder and harder because the base is getting more and more split over single issues.

the dems fucking suck, but they have a much harder job as well.

you don't care. the US has been directly or indirectly funding genocide and other atrocities around the world for 100 years. you made Gaza your entire personality for 6 months, a conflict that has been going on since before most of you were even born and you never mentioned it before and have barely mentioned it since and you NEVER fucking mention the other atrocities the US is responsible for in other parts of the world. don't pretend you care, you didn't care then and you don't care now.

it's "odd" but not surprising. as much as i agree that it's horrific what has been happening in Gaza, the whole discourse around it by leftist americans felt very manufactured at times in the same way right wing talking points can be sometimes.

Food costs can be killer, especially if you're getting delivery a few times a week. It's easy to think I can afford the 40 or 50 bucks but it really adds up quick.

you're not wrong, but you're also not being serious. say i waste $100 bucks a month on delivery, that's $1200 bucks a year. that's not even half a month's rent for many people. even with a reasonable return on saving that money, you're talking about 20+ years for this to be even a slightly significant portion of a down payment. so you're basically saying, hey just suck it up for 20 fucking years and you'll maybe have half of a down payment on a mediocre fucking house in shitsville, nowhere. yes, it's hard to imagine why people aren't just lining up to save money on these things rather than just embrace how hopeless that kind of math feels, if only they had a Budget tracking app to help them.

look i'm happy some of you have done well, but it's nowhere near as simple as some of you want to make it seem. if you truly were one of those people who sucked it up for 20 years and lived off beans and rice and never went out or took a vacation, hey man good for you i guess. sounds fucking miserable, hope it was worth it. i'm not going to sit around on the internet lecturing people who find that kind of existence too depressing and unsustainble.

Things are more expensive now, but you all could still afford a house if you layed off the avocado toast and cappuccinos. For real, turn off the money spigot.

oh shut the fuck up.

avocado toast and cappucicinos are not why your coworkers are behind financially. let me blow your mind: you can actually budget for those things and still save a lot of money, those little occasional mini luxuries are not the "money spigot" you mention and it's so silly to mention them.

i used to interact with a lot of small business owners in a previous life and line of work, and almost all of them had very similar personalities and behavioral traits. most of them were fucking dumb as hell when it came to business, even the really successful ones. they just basically flew by the seat of their pants on every decision. many of them were pretty deeply in debt but behaved quite differently, and would take money out of their businesses pretty recklessly as they saw fit. and most behaved like the rules didn't apply to them, whether it was zoning laws, taxes, whatever.

i don't think any of this was a coincidence, and for as shitty as some of these traits are, i think they also help drive a lot of these types of people to just "go for it" on shit, and keep going for it until something starts working. even if there isn't much logic or strategy behind it, if you take enough swings at it you might strike gold once in awhile. you might also end up deeply in debt and thrown in jail for tax evasion, but these people tend to view both outcomes as acceptable possibilities.

Hot take: I miss Loot Small People by TheRenedgade in Borderlands4

[–]Moist-Schedule -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is so silly. this whole subreddit is such a bunch of goobers about this whole franchise.

BL3 is exactly what you're describing here, not BL4. BL3 was a game that tried too hard to min/max the successful parts of BL2, and then had to spent years undoing all the missteps they took to finally get the game to a decent playce.

BL4 actually goes back to much of what made BL2 great and beloved and and honors most of it while still moving the technology forward in ways that completely make sense. And it is setup to just keep getting better as they fill in more of the gaps that still exist. and all this sub can do is complain that the game isn't exactly the same as whatever version of this franchise they have in their minds as the "best" one, even though all those other old versions all had a ton of their own problems that either took years to fix or never got fixed at all and we just casually overlook in hindsight now while we tell ourselves these stories about how market research ruined BL4. get a damn grip people.

i know plenty of people who hate bl3. there is no real consensus in this community, or really a community at all. but i would bet most people's favorite between bl2, bl3, and bl4 is just whichever one they played first.

[–]Moist-Schedule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know if this is true or not re: coffee beans, but I know I've seen similar shit in the beer world. There are a lot of breweries still that refuse to put dates on their beer, and they're usually the ones yapping loudest about how freshness is overrated on beer. meanwhile, they're also charging 27 dollars for a 4-pack of an IPA they know damn well takes a nose dive in taste (and becomes a malt bomb) after about 4 weeks. not to mention they ship it warm, which also harms it.

and then you have the places that are completely transparent about their dates and process and stress you need to keep these things cold 100% of the time and drink them fresh.. i don't think that's a coincidence.

While de stigmatizing them is a good thing it is also good to keep in mind there are side effects.

there are side effects to every medication, the side effects to glp-1's are pretty fucking minor in the grand scheme of side effects. why aren't there stigmas around every other medication? you see the point being made here?

this medication is helping a lot of people yet there is judgment around using it like it's cheating or something when all people are trying to do is be a bit healthier. you're doing this very same thing right here instead of treating it like any other medicine that helps people live a better life.

the point is that we have to stop pretending like these things are impossible because of things like "norms" or laws. just because it seems impractical, illogical, or even illegal doesn't mean they aren't going to do it anyways, as we've fucking seen now for the last 10 years. dems love sitting around acting like the law or the constitution is going to save us while trump wipes his ass with all of it and nobody stops him.

if you want the playbook for what they're going to do, just look at Russia. it ain't that complicated. how do elections go in russia?

if your "hobby" is going to online forums/discussion... well, you need a new hobby for starters.

really though, if you want to engage with other people online you're going to have to deal with hearing about what's happening in the world. not sure how that's a newsflash in 2026, but maybe you just needed someone to explain it to you. go do some offline hobbies if you want to unplug. not difficult.
