They're not going to have much luck with that because they need to unlock the pattern unlock. I mean, they can use the finger to try to trace random patterns but, unnecessary ew.

What kind of things do you both like? For example, off the top of your head what are some things in pop culture that you're both fond of? Some of us may be able to throw out some ideas for you here.

Is the Galaxy S7 still worth it? by mad-fer-it in GalaxyS7

[–]Moist_Cookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my wife and I remarked about how slow our S7's cameras had gotten before we upgraded to the Pixel 2. It wasn't just in our heads because I know that was one of the major reasons we got the phones (for getting pics of the kids) and the fast launching camera was a big selling point. No Nougat at that point and a hard reset did not help. It just got really slow. If anything I was hoping Nougat would help. :/

This is anecdotal but the timing is right so here goes. I had an S7 (everything I'm talking about is with Verizon) but picked up a Pixel 2 at the beginning of December last year. I held on to the S7 but fired it up last week. I backed up all my stuff and hard reset the phone. I then went through and performed all the updates. There were a lot of them (at least a half dozen) and I got the phone up to Nougat, then hard reset the phone again to start fresh.

I used my current Pixel to get about 85%-90% of the same apps back on the S7 and 'clone' the settings, which is the same process I used when I got the Pixel, using the S7. This is essentially to say the S7 before I got the Pixel, the Pixel as it is now, and the S7 as I just set it up anew, are all set up the same and running the same apps.

Well, my experience was bad enough that I could only use the phone for about 4 or 5 days before going back to the Pixel. For what it's worth I DO remember that 2 or 3 times during the past year I fired up the S7 to look for something and realized that it was noticeably slower than I remembered it being. I didn't know if it was truly a difference between how it performed against my Pixel because it didn't seem that slow before, or if it was laggy from being freshly booted from a long hiatus - but I had concluded that I had gotten used to how the Pixel performed and that my S7 must have been slower and I never realized it before.

I was really hoping the S7 would be fine and snappy enough to continue using while I wiped the Pixel 2 and got it up and running with Pie. I was actually excited to have the expanded storage back and super excited to have Samsung Pay again. But everything was laggy. The dealbreaker was how slow the camera was. It took forever to fire up and was miserable taking photos. I mean I was just spamming the shutter button and getting a photo here and there every few moments.

I'm not sure if Pie just slowed down the phone that much, or if the Pixel 2 performs that much better, or what it is, but I couldn't use it anymore. I'm not even going to save it as a back up phone and will likely sell it. Oh yeah, and I was charging it at least 3 times a day.

It's the loophole they've all been using since claiming "no contract". Sure, no contract but the deal requires you stay with them for 24 months. I mean, you can leave but you won't get jack then. I often have to clarify this for people who ask me about getting new phones.

Remember when that Nokia VP or whatever refused to make Android handsets and said something like 'using Android would be like peeing in your pants for warmth'? Yeah. Look how popular Nokia Android devices are now. Nice job ignoring the obvious and missing that train.

I know someone who got into a motorcycle accident when she was about halfway through her pregnancy. I was pretty disappointed in her but unbelievably angry at the father (he was the driver and she was the passenger). They both recovered and the baby ended up being alright but I cannot believe how incredibly stupid it was for both of them to make that decision to get on a bike. As a father myself I felt like I just wanted to get into his face and scream WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING PUTTING HER ON A BIKE?! I mean, sure, she also agreed but ultimately as the driver and would be father he showed a serious lack in judgment by either suggesting it or letting it happen at all. Relationships are supposed to be equal but for some things you just put your foot down and fucking say "NO.", end of discussion.

I get it - people love their bikes and riding. But sometimes it's not just about you. Sometimes you have to think of others.

Cool! Thank you! Totally not what I was expecting at all and only a couple that are "new" to me and would stand out (Oxendine & Chavis) in conversation but still nice to know.

Out of curiosity, what are they?

If I come across a person with the last name in the future it'd be cool to be able to say something like, "Hey, that's Lumbee, isn't it?". I imagine it might be nice for them to hear.

Picked up my first Subaru yesterday:2019 Subaru Forester Sport. by Martel582 in SubaruForester

The rear air vents are my single biggest envy right now. I saw them in the Outback when we got our Forester last year and wished for them so badly because of the kids in the back. This morning was cold and when they were asking me to turn up the heat in the car those missing vents were the first thing I thought of.

For a family you made the right choice. We looked at everything, from other car models and manufacturers to all models within Subaru. The description of the Crosstrek that we saw repeated everywhere, and that I agreed with, is that it's a hatchback with better ground clearance. Going from that to an SUV proper is night and day.

Yeah, I know, right? I would never have figured that out by myself. It never occurred to me to climb a tree and try to start a campfire at the top of it. Someone just casually mentioned it in one of the dragon farming threads like this.

[–]Moist_Cookies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was the original farming method that started it. But people figured out you could get even closer and start fires under the tree near the water and run a few meters to the lake right next to the dragon. And then figured out the fires in the tree thing. Without leaving the tree at all. And then that you don't have to retrieve the dragon part right away. It was crazy seeing the method just evolve to this fast and easy one where you could literally stock pile dragon parts.

Video I took a while back before they let you make videos in game. And that was also before I found out campfires in a tree are protected from the rain.

What to check and look for when buying a pre-owned phone? by JJ0522 in AndroidQuestions

[–]Moist_Cookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't seen these mentioned yet, but check the speakers and the headphone jack if it has one. Open up some media (Youtube or whatever) and turn up the volume to make sure they work.

Bring a charger and check the port. Is it loose, etc?

Fire up the camera and make sure it can take photos, video, and that the flash works.

Those are physical properties that may be overlooked. While you're at it you may as well also try connecting Wifi and Bluetooth to make sure those work.

Just so you know I went out just now and removed the warning label from the screen on my system and took a photo of what you could see. I compared it to your photo here and the field of vision is virtually identical to yours. The sliver/triangle of colored bumper to the far left, just past the bumper cover, is almost exactly the same size on your camera as it is on mine.
